Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. The fondu is really yummy and they accommodated us by providing an additional food to dip.

“It was okay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

We visited the restaurant on a saturday evening and had made a reservation in the afternoon, because on Friday we saw that it was totally full. But in comparison with Fridayevening the restaurant wasn't even half full when we went there.
I had a Röstipizza (it looks like a pizza, but the bottom is made from potato's (Rösti is a tipical Swiss dish made from boild potato's then rasped and fried in a frying pan). My wife had a Wienerschnitzel with vegetables. The food was okay, but the saladbuffet was great. A lot of different green salads, cucumber, peperoni, mushrooms, tuna, olives and onions with about four different salad sauces, but you could also made your own from a variety of different oils, e.g. pumpkin seed oil.
We also drank a rosé, which was okay and free tabwater.
For dessert: the coupe Denmark was fine, but the fresh fruitsalad left much to be desired.
The service was good except when we made the reservation. It seemed then, that they weren't that interested.
The prices were a little bit high in relation with the quality of the food we got.

We had dinner here once during our stay. Food was good. Service can be a bit friendlier in our opinion.

“Most unfriendly greeting ever”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

We stayed at the Bären Hotel during a ski trip, and very much enjoyed our stay there. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the restaurant. We walked into the half-empty restaurant around 9pm on a Saturday night and were rudely stopped at the door by the manager who asked whether we had a reservation. When we replied that we did not have a reservation and indicated that we were guests of the hotel, she huffed at us saying that "if you are a hotel guest, you are not entitled to dinner at the Bären. Rooms come with a promise to feed guests breakfast, however, there is not responsibility on the hotel's side to make dinner available to us." We were then ushered to our table and, still perplexed by this experience (too perplexed to turn around at the door and walk out), were greeted by a friendly waitress who managed to make up for our encounter with the restaurant's manager. The food was good, the portions healthy for Swiss standards, and the service friendly. Overall, a decent restaurant, but we recommend you stay clear of the manager -or that you make a reservation in case you care for a friendly greeting...
