This is a gem of a Jugendstil historic property with the vigor and vibe of a 21st Century experience to cherish and behold . After a small glitch in the reservation process announcing the restaurant would be closed for a long time planned birthday dinner we had planned ahead, the team at Vitznauerhof left nothing to chance to ensure that my wife’s birthday was delivered as an extraordinary experience full of good memories for sure. Our stay and especially the dinner at Sens was nothing short of sensational (to say Jeroen Achtien and his Dutch team is possibly the most innovative and creative chef in Switzerland would be an understatement). If you haven’t been yet, don’t hesitate, GO! Thoughtful, attention to detail and exemplary hospitality. Bravo team Vitznauerhof and team Sens. We shall return, guaranteed.

Hotel Vitznauerhof is a smart and stylish hotel with deluxe rooms and ensuites, featuring decor that is sympathetic to the age and character of the building. There is a convenient, private car park to the front of the building. The spacious grounds - with its beautiful views and plenty of seating areas - are definitely worth exploring.

The receptionist who assisted us was really personable and spoke perfect English (putting my limited German to shame!) although she did say she had spent some years at school in England, which might explain it! There are even jars of sweets in the reception area that you can treat yourself to!

We had a view of the waterfall from our room, which we took in whilst enjoying the complimentary chocolates and chilled water, which were a nice surprise :-) The bathroom was very sleek and modern but we couldn't find anywhere to hang our towels?!

Located on each floor is a hospitality table, with a coffee machine, tea, fruit and pastries (although disappointingly we didn't see any pastries during our stay). If you fancy something stronger than tea, there is an elegant bar area, which is a lovely quiet spot to relax!

The breakfast room offers a great view of the lake, where we were served by a friendly and attentive waitress who took our hot drinks and eggs orders. The usual continental breakfast options are available, however perhaps the selection could be expanded to include pancakes and a wider selection of pastries? This would really elevate the breakfast!

All in all this is a wonderful hotel, where lots of little extras have been thought of. I'd definitely stay here again!

We stayed for three nights in a Mountain View Room at the beginning of September. The Vitznauerhof is a beautiful old building with lots of character on the shores of Lake Lucern. The guest rooms are very modern and comfortable though, the bed especially so. Breakfast each morning was great with a wide selection to choose from.
The cogwheel train up Mt Rigi and the ferry wharf where you can catch the ferry into Lucern are a short walk away and the town of Vitznau is lovely. We were also lucky to be staying when a tour of Festung Vitznau, a secret mountain fortress built in WW11 was being led by volunteers. Well worth the visit but best to check when they are run.
There was a wedding on in the garden on our last night there which didn't disturb us but we did choose to eat elsewhere that night as we thought they may be preoccupied with the wedding guests. Car parking was easy. Overall a lovely stay picture perfect as my photos show.

Dear LadyofHaig

Best regards from the Vitznauerhof at the Lake Lucerne.

Thank you so much for your great feedback and the time you took to write it.

It is great to hear that you had a very impressive stay with us. From the Hotel to the Rigi train and of course the fortress in Vitznau. There are so many things to do in and around Vitznau. You can just ask at the reception for any recommendation.

It would be an honour for us to welcome you soon again in our hotel at the Lake Lucerne and we wish you a great time.

Best regards
Your Vitznauerhof Team

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel on a group tour this fall.
All of our rooms were slightly different and all looked out over Lake Lucerne. Many had balconies, ours didn't but the view was great anyway.
The outdoor bar and restaurant also overlooked the lake.
There were many sitting areas outside in the neatly manicured grounds lakeside.
We forgot to bring bathing suits, but those who did, relaxed in the outdoor spa, or swam in the lake, which was crystal clear, if slightly chilly in the sunny September weather.
Walking distance to the Lake Lucerne ferry, the train station and to town.

We stayed for two nights at the Vitznauerhof. As such the Hotel the location, the personnel, the spa, the room, the Nespresso machine is just great and enjoyable. We in particulat enjoyed the dinner at the Sens Restaurant excellet location and great food. Unfortunately there was a tourist group of about 20 peopel who blocked from 3 to 6 PM the pool area. They were extreamly loud so we could not stay there. Even in the room it was too loud. As we came back from the Sens restaurant this group had a big party on the balcony below us so we could not sleep. As there is no AC you need to keep the window open. My recommendation is the call up the Hotel before you make a reservation and to ask if there is a tourist group there, if yes don't go there.
