“An average 4* hotel”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We picked this hotel because we had never skiied at this area before and the hotel is closed to the village ski lift. As the rest of the other reviewers wrote, it is an old hotel, dated back to the 80s in my opinion.

Our room has balcony, is located at the side of the building, facing the playground/parking place/other residentials. Everything in the room is very basic but it is clean and tidy. Bathroom is also very simple, had a good laugh when i saw the hairdryer, thought it was a child play toy...small and powerless.

Lobby area, in my opinion, is not cozy. With old couches and bar across the check in-out desk. Breakfast is ok, no warm continental breakfast. With spectacular view of the alps. The dining area is always busy both during b'fast and dinner time. Wifi is only at the lobby area.

Hotel also has a separate storage room for our skiing equipments, it's all lock up, unless you have 2 euro :) And they also provide a shuttle to the ski lift and back, which is very handy i find it, no hussle in bringing yr own ski equipments and climbing uphill to the ski lift :)

I am not very sure if there is a swimming pool in the hotel, but we had been given vouchers to swim at the local public swimming pool not far from the hotel.

Plus:
tidy and clean room
everything is under walk distance
very friendly staffs
The weekly menu is superb (during our stay)

Minus:
Housekeeping always comes very late in the afternoon, very often after skiing in the morning, we came back to the still messy hotel room
old hotel and some stuffs are worn out

Room Tip: room with alps view is recommended!

I was happy to be in the center of this small village, everything is at a short walking distance (pharmacy, newspaper shop, souvenir shop, pastry, sportive center,...) and the view from the rooms is really nice. Typically Swiss view!!!
I suggest you this hotel, specially for a family trip as there is everything around to make children happy.
Staff is very polite and friendly

The hotel is old and very expensive with very worn out floorings, however the staff are very friendly and the views (in the rooms looking mountain) are extremely beautiful. No coffee machine and no free internet in the rooms. There is an indoor pool with small sized one i ourdoor and it is free, however it is located in sport center about 200 meters away from the hotel..Take your towel with yourself as the sport center will not provide you towel. The hotel will give you a discount card for the use of Tele-Cabin and rotating Resturant.

Room Tip: Only rooms with mountine views may worth the price.

Stayed one night at the Mercure Classic Leysin. Not a bad choice, although not recommended for young travelers, as it is extremely quiet and it can get boring. The location is great, although, as most hotels in Leysin, you have to walk quite a bit in order to reach the train station. Tip: the walk to Leysin Village station might seem to be longer, but the surface is flat. If you choose Leysin-Feydey, you will have to walk uphill. The dinner was good but I found it to be a little bit expensive.

Nothing special about this hotel, it's not worth 4 stars. Horrible room decoration, busy road nearby, tiny tv, dirty bathroom and beds, moisture in the bath, old shower curtains, dirty walls.

Breakfast is good, plenty of food'n'drinks.

5 minutes walk to ski station.

Food sub standard, staff outrageously rude by British standards, very abrupt and often ignorant, this may be a cultural thing, I don't know? But I found their approach not acceptable for a **** hotel. Very pricey beer, coffee, soft drinks. One plus was that the room was clean and towels were changed every day. Leysin was a beautiful ski area. I will not return to this hotel.
