Haus Majesta is a wonderful rental. The apartment itself is spacious enough and the furniture is in good shape. It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with spices and cooking equipment. The stove and oven worked, however we did not use the fondue maker or toaster. There was plenty of storage place for our clothes and baggage. The beds are separated, which seems to be the Swiss style. They can be pushed together, but the gap between the beds widens easily. You must pay if you wish to use the phone, but Internet prices were quite reasonable. The shower was a bit small and the faucet made loud squeaking noises when the hot water was on, but it was ignorable. One negative point: the laundry room in the basement has only one small washing machine which takes coins to work. There is no drier, but there are lines to hang your wet clothes on. The washing machine was always full when we wanted to use it, so instead we had to visit the laundromat in town. Leukerbad is pretty quiet, thus the rental was not noisy at all. We didn't hear our neighbors.
The owners were very nice, friendly people and spoke French for us. They were helpful, and aided us more than once. We got the room we asked for (109) which had an incredible view of the town and mountains which we looked at often from the balcony. Not all of our power plugs were compatible with the Swiss power outlets, so the owners lent us an adapter they graciuously allowed us to take with us for the rest of our trip. We were able to pay in euros, with no change fees (at a standard change rate of 1.20), and the price was even rounded in our favor.
Since Leukerbad is so small, virtually every area of town is within walking distance of Haus Majesta. The bakery La Bohème is 2 minutes away, the grocery store PAM is 5 minutes away, and the bus stop is right next to the rental. It is within easy walking distance of the cable car, restaurants, the thermal baths, and the bus station. Restaurant Diana (which Haus Majesta has a deal with to give reduced prices to renters) was closed during our trip so the owners of the rental gave us a coupon to the pizzeria Choucas. Haus Majesta is secluded and romantic, but that comes with a price. The rental is located in the higher part of town so even if the walk back to it is short, it's also rather high up. To reach it by the fastest route, you must walk up a steep hill. If you're out of shape, this will be difficult the first few times. There are other, longer routes, and driving there with a car is possible.
We were very satisfied with this rental and would quickly choose this one again if we came back to Leukerbad. Very recommended.
