“If you only eat out once, it should be here!”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

We rented a home in nearby Gryon and wanted a tradition Swiss meal. We got it at La Rotisserie des Alpes! The waiter didn't speak much English, but no problem as my wife speaks French. Amusingly, she was even asked to translate by the very apologetic and appreciative waiter who was dealing with an older British couple who made no attempt to speak French and were having difficulty ordering.

The fondue was amazing... a combination a several cheeses that made it a bit more flavorful than some more simple fondues we've had. Of course they also had a comprehensive collection of Swiss wine to go with our meal.

We felt very welcome there and would definitely go back!

“Simply perfect dinner”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

Service is so good, I would guess it is some kind of family business... All waiters are confident, friendly, ready to advise. Go for beef filet, it is the best. Finish with Swiss chocolate mousse. Reasonable price.

“Good but overpriced.”
Reviewed November 4, 2011

Switzerland is currently caught between a rock and a hard place. Through no fault of the average restauranteur, the Swiss franc has gone through the roof requiring your average foreign punter to arrange a mortgage before he goes anywhere half decent to eat.

And La Rotisserie is certainly "half-decent", if not better than that, but really, they should do something about their prices, even if only for Johnny Foreigner. A fillet steak with all the trimmings at SF45: that's Ritz prices,. A very small Kir Royale at SF15 is over the top, and selling a bottle of local plonk for SF29 when the same stuff is readily available in the supermarket, 20 meters away, for SF7, takes "mark-up" to a new level.

The place itself, with its ambience, the mix of Swiss and tourists, the national and international options avaibale on the menu are all fine, but for us, as a family of 4, eating and drinking modestly, to come away with a bill of SF250 is just ridiculous. Either the prices are modified downwards, or they will go out of business. It's as simple as that.

Would love to go back and enjoy, but the way the Swiss economy is going the only thing to remain affordable will be the view of the other guests wincing as they reach into their wallets.
