“Not up to Swiss Standards”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We arrived by train and bus late in the evening and had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant of this hotel. Breakfast was also excellent (if expensive at 25 CHF pp). Since we were attending a meeting at the nearby EPFL, the location was very convenient, although nothing else is nearby so there are no options to the hotel restaurant for eating.

The hotel room presented a cascade of problems. First the key did not work, and the computer system could not produce more than one key for our room. Then the safe battery was dead, so we called the front desk and were told to come there for a new battery. As we opened the room door to go to the front desk, we forgot to open the latch and the entire right door frame pulled of the wall! The latch had been held on with a couple of tiny screws - and this was not the first time the door frame had come off. We got the batteries and opened the safe door with our own tools (none were available at the desk). But the the batteries were the wrong size. This was just the start of a cascade of problems - from the shower head leaking to the over-sized cushion on the desk chair falling off every time we tried to sit down. In addition, we were told by our hosts that the hotel would take us to the train station, but alas, the hotel van doesn't operate on the weekend, so we were on our own to get there.

The room was very small - almost no flat spaces at all - and it was hard to fit our two suitcases anywhere. We had opted for a "superior" room with a lake view - because that generally means a larger room. But "superior" did not mean a larger room, it only meant that we had a door out to a useless, snow-covered "patio" from which one might take a stroll and see the lake in the summer. Lesson: don't pay for superior in the winter!

All-in-all, the only reason we would ever go back to this disappointing hotel is if we have another meeting at EPFL, and even then, we'd think twice. It was definitely not worth the price.

Room Tip: Lake view does not mean lake view. It means a door to a ground floor patio that might give a lake vi...

The one thing that immediately strikes you once you reach the hotel is the amazing view of the alps by the Lake Geneva. The lake is just a couple of blocks away and the path along the lake serves as an awesome track for a run.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Lausanne and is very comfortable for those visiting EPFL or surrounding companies.
Cab service is never a problem but the metro, that is about a kilometer away, seems quite a walk from the hotel, especially when you are in a hurry.
The rooms are decently spacious, well lit and offer very comfortable beds. The shower, like in most other business hotels, is kinda crammed. Wifi is free and the connection is fast.
The breakfast included as apart of the package offers 'not so wide' options and I personally got really bored with the repeat menu every other day.
Overall, a good experience over the 7 days that I stayed there.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms facing the lake and not the Rolex center

The hotel was very pricey but well worth it. Great facilities and the food was amazing. Staff however weren't very big on customer service. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Really enjoyed the gym and the fact that it is just walking distance from the train station and the lake.

We arrived Friday 21 December and were given a wonderful room overlooking the lake (this was an upgrade). But unfortunately the former guest had not only smoked cigarettes but he must have been a heavy smoker of cigars, as the room smelled the cigar smoke. (how did the chambermaid not report that!). Well we complained, and after first being given a smaller room and when we complained again, they gave us another, only slightly inferior room to the first one.

The cleanliness of this room was a real horror. Hoovering not done seriously, WC had traces from the former guest, the glass in the batheroom -dirty and of course also traces from the former guest. Tea and coffeefacilities not filled up. We complained again, but the Girl at Reception who was apparently in charge of everything - did not even think it was necessary to come and talk to us. When we asked for a free breakfast to make up for all the trouble she just informed us via another receptionist, that we had had an upgrade of the room and that was it- she would not even offer the cheap 10franc continental.
A real pity- and certainly we would not go there again- and we would also not recommend it. Because if something is wrong you can be sure - they won't help to solve the matter in a decent way. For a hotel so far out of Lausanne- not a good way to treat their customers

Room Tip: There are other hotels which are very close and they are not only cheaper but better too

Very comfortable, new-looking hotel. Perfectly clean rooms, very reasonable breakfast. The hotel is very conveniently located if you're doing business at EPFL or the surrounding high-tech area. I didn't bother with the shuttle, as the distances are not that significant and taxis are still convenient.

10 minutes walk from the tram going thru EPFL, this hotel is really great for people who like the modern style. Size of the room is large with really good comfort. Beds are really great with nice linen. Audio dock for your MP3, large shower, bathroom offers all the modern things you need. The place is really quite, perfect for long rest ! Breakfasts are really good, food at the restaurant as well. Prices are quite high but it is Switzerland. Lausanne downtown is around 30 mn by tram.

Room Tip: All are good ! Ask the ones far from lift and the main corridor.
