“You need to eat here”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

It would be a real shame to visit Saas-Fee and not eat at this lovely restaurant. Located just south of the village along the single-track road to Saas-Almagel, the 1km walk is well worth it for the views it affords across the valley. The restaurant is the first building you'll come to, a lovely wooden chalet situated on its own with a lovely view from its garden which has plenty of seating and must be lovely in summer. We were there in a very cold january evening, with snow everywhere, and found the walk easy and a very enjoyable part of the whole experience. The stars in crisp, clear night sky were amazing. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with a separate small bar area (good weissebeer) and a large dining room. For four people we ordered two of the stews in stone pots and two of the raclette style red-hot stones on which we could grill a selection of meats. The food was fabulous, high quality steak, lamb, chicken provided with lovely sauces. The lamb and the pork&mushroom stews were delicious. Considering the quality of the food, the meal is excellent value. The local swiss wine was expensive.

“Nice walk to secluded restaurant”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

From the parking garage, keep left and cross the panorama bridge. On your left you will see the road to the restaurant, look for the sign. It is a 15min walk. Reservations are recommended. We ate at the bar because it was fully booked. Food is delicious. Athmosphere great. And very good service. We were offered coffee on the house because we ate in the bar.

“When in Saas-Fee you must visit Bodmen”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

It's a must only a nice stroll from Saas-Fee towards Saas-Almagell. The place is a mix of modern (open and neat kitchen) and traditional (old Swiss barn feeling) and the food is excellent. It can get a little crowded during holidays but it's worth the wait and since it is open all day long you can go at different times and don't have to be there during the peak hours. It's a fun place, well designed and don't miss looking at the glass enclosed chicken area with rabbits and other unusual animals. The view of the valley from Bodmen is breathtaking !

“Most unique in Saas Fee”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

We've been eating here for 9 years. This restaurant is maybe 1km from town center, but well worth the walk down a quaint path. When you get there you're not sure but what you've arrived at a farmhouse. There are animals on the grounds, then you walk inside and in a glassed in area there are chickens, that I guess give them fresh chicken and fresh eggs for the restaurant. Anyway, it's a very rustic "unique" restaurant that you won't find most places, and it's just plain fun to eat at....plus the food is delicious.

“If you see a camel it is not the alchohol!”
Reviewed April 18, 2012

This is old world Swiss charm at its best - a farm house perched on the edge of the mountain reached on foot down a long winding mountain track but actually an easy walk from Saas Fee. The food is always excellent. Very traditional swiss cooking. If you have a hearty appetite try the venison, I am addicted to it! This is a great venue to take children. There is an indoor 'barn' full of chickens, rabbits etc which is at one end of the restaurant separated from diners by a glass wall. The service can be a bit slow so do not be in a hurry. Modest prices but for what you get, good value. Oh and outside they have a camel and some Lamas which tend to emerge into view as you lean over the balcony- quite disconcerting if you have enjoyed a lot of the red wine.
