I was spending 3 days on my own in Saas Fee and booked this hotel from the internet not really knowing what to expect.

Arrived with a lovely welcome of coffee, tea, wine and maps of the town and piste- really thoughtful and welcoming

The room was lovely and for once a good size as opposed to the typically tiny rooms you usually find in a ski resort. Well laid out, very comfortable bed and I liked having the iPad since I'd not brought mine.

I ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings, good was good and atmosphere relaxed.

I can't fault the hotel and would happily come back for another weekend.

We stayed at The Dom in December for a long weekend skiing. The hotel is excellent great staff a location in the centre of town. All the facilities at the hotel are first class we highly recommend the hotel and will come back again.

Room Tip: Our room with a bath and shower was great

Booked this hotel because of a large number of good reviews but…
Design and style rule in The Dom sacrificing any functionality and common sense.
The big screen flat TV and radio are managed via iPAD. Great – but it was out of order the next day we arrived and we were given a good old remote contol instead. Needless to say that nobody ever tried to fix it during our stay. No problem, we managed.

There are bath robes in the room but no sign of slippers (though a wool bag with a Swiss red cross I identified as the one for slippers was always a part of the room decor).
The robes are nice and white but there is nowhere to hang them – literally no hangers in the bathroom as well as any soap holder.

There is a stylish capsule coffee machine in the room but coffee is not provided unless you ask for it.
The front desk ladies try to be helpful and always smile but are very disorganized and can hardly understand what you ask.

However this is just peanuts when it comes to room cleaning. Local maids are really something) The mud stain on the floor we noticed at our arrival remained untouched until we left. The linen and towels were not changed, even the floor towel you step on after shower was carefully picked up, folded and returned to its place on the battery (!!)
New shower gel tubes were not provided – had to ask twice for replacement.
Our friends who lived in the next room found a couple of pre-historic yogurts in the fridge and a sack with pet food on the balcony - apparently left after previous (previous??) guests – the maids did not bother to check, imagine))

My verdict – funny place but never again.

P.S. Almost forgotten - poor breakfast but the main restaurant is good for dinner, to be honest.

Dear Oleg,

thank you for letting us know of the problems encountered during your stay. I am quite shocked to hear that our cleaning was absolutely not up to standard and I take personal responsibility that this does not happen again and all items in the room are refilled every day. I am unforunately only left to apologize and assure you that consequences will follow for us internally.

Further to our breakfast buffett I am surprised to hear that it was not good as we receive a lot of praise from our guest. But here as well I am taking your comments to heart and will improve what is missing.

I truly hope that we can win back your trust for your next stay and I would like to personally invite you to stay with complimentary to show you how we normally do it. . Please contact us at the Hotel to discuss further details.

Kind regards,
Simone

My wife and I stayed here with friends during the New Year. We had picked this hotel because it is overlooking the square where the New Year's Eve firework display happens. The location is ideal for this. The room was large and well equipped with an in-room safe, fridge, a great coffee machine, etc. There was lots of storage space. I believe the rooms have been recently modernised and the look very trendy with the shower cubicle (with a waterfall and normal outlet) and bathroom done in black marble (see my photo). Neither of the sinks has a plug which makes it more difficult to have a wet shave without wasting a lot of water. Unlike some hotel rooms there are a lot of lights which means that there are no "dark areas" in the room.
The lights, TV and radio are controlled by an iPad which is also in keping with the modern, trendy look which the hotel is seeking to achieve. There is also a small pad on the wall which controls the lights and several other features including giving you an update on the current weather in Sass Fee. Our iPad stopped working the TV, luckily the "old-fashioned" remote control which they then supplied did the job well.
In their efforts to be trendy they have grouped the recessed electrical sockets in a tight cluster of three, (see my photo). They would have been better in a line. This works fine if you have electrical devices which are made for Swiss sockets. As frequent travellers, we use adaptors which have always been excellent in every other continent we have visited. They would not fit into these recessed sockets. Luckily the reception had a spare adaptor which was suitable. The other sockets were not recessed but when you plugged in the coffee machine (see my photo) nothing else could be plugged into the other 2 adjacent sockets. Modern travellers carry a variety of electrical devices all of which need to be charged and this hotel has not considered this problem fully. The local supermarket sold an extension lead with 4 sockets arranged in a row and I was tempted to buy one to ensure that all our devices could be fully charged when we needed them.
The breakfast buffet was adequate with a reasonable variety of cold meats and cheeses, but it would be nice to have something apart from bacon, scrambled egg and small sausages as a hot option. Only later did we discover that we could order cooked items - none of the staff explained this to us.
The staff were very friendly, extremely helpful when asked, but seemed to lack training about how to best meet customer's expectations. No-one explained about the option for other cooked breakfast items.
We had booked the 6 course, New Year's Eve gala dinner full of expectation, because the menu looked extremely interesting. The service was painfully slow and some tables were 2 courses ahead of other tables. The food sounded good on the menu but disappointed with small portions, some of which were of mediocre quality. Our impression was that the chefs had tried too hard to produce "Michelin star" quality food without the training or experience to achieve this. It would have been better to concentrate on less ostentatious food and impress with much better quality.

Thank you very much for letting us know your experiences from a frequent travellers point of view. We had not considered the amount of problems which our standard swiss sockets are causing. We do have further extension cords with sockets in a row.
I was highly concerned about your remark for lack of Service Training. I have therefore scheduled extensive trainings for the coming week to make sure our customer Service skill are on top level. Also the kitchen crew received your comments and will reconsider the menu choices on new years eve to make it perfect the next year.
I hope that we can proof to you our quality of service on a future stay.
Yours sincerely,
Simone

Well, I don’t know where to start writing this review.
Just because everything was perfect: the warm welcome, the room, the position, the restaurant, the bar/club in the sous-sol (great music!!) the decoration, the staff, the concept, the food, the little attentions (like water ready in the room) (and free).
I think this is one of my favourite hotels ever.

Just go there and you will absolutely adore every minute.

Great hotel, beautifully remodeled. It's full of modern design furniture, however, they managed to maintain the romantic Swiss charm in its details. Staff very friendly and very nice rooms with iPads, wifi, and great showers.
Two drawbacks: we were there during carnival season. While the location is normally great, right on the center square, the noise from the partying locals was simply unbearable. Couldn't sleep for several nights. While this has little to do with the hotel itself, it was very annoying.
Also, the food was generally great in the restaurant, but the fries all come with truffle seasoning, which is, even as a truffle lover, a bit overwhelming.
But generally a great hotel!

We spent three nights at The Dom to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hotel is beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful, the views wonderful. We were met at the bus station by the shuttle bus, which also took us back there at the end of our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable with a huge double bed, TV and electrics were operated with an ipod! Breakfast was a very well-stocked buffet and we ordered freshly cooked ommelettes which were delicious. The evening restaurant was delightful and they even prepared a special birthday desert for my husband. Unfortunately we were unable to ski because it snowed so heavily that every cable car was closed, however, the resulting winter wonderland was truly beautiful. A lovely stay at a fabulous hotel , we will definitely be back.
