Description: The Au Chalet - Swiss Restaurant is located in French-speaking Switzerland, between Lausanne and Montreux, above Vevey, on the Mont-Pelerin. Perched high above Lake Geneva in the heart of the Lavaux Terraced Vineyards, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, our magnificent traditional inn with a terrace features one of the most spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding mountains. In an authentic Swiss wood decor, the Au Chalet restaurant offers you one of the best cuisines featuring local products and dishes. Swiss specialities and traditional dishes, such as fondue, raclette, tomme vaudoise (local soft cheese), croute au fromage (cheese croute), rosti, beef from local farmers, a dried meat platter and Alpine farm cheeses will allow you to savour succulent regional dishes prepared in-house using only the best products from our small local producers.

Valentines night dinner. Quenelle of pike with not a hint of fish just stodgy, duck in orange sauce with no taste of orange, fruit and chocolate fondue little and ordinary fruit and poor chocolate. 95ch each. The Italian restaurant le patio in the main hotel so much better excellent cooking. Avoid au chalet and go there

We loved this restaurant during our stay at Le Mirador. The food was quite good (perfect for trying traditional Swiss dishes) and we loved the adorable "living room" feel around the fireplace. Prices were quite reasonable (at least within Switzerland - still on the more expensive side by American standards) and although the English-language service was a bit hit or miss with some of the staff, we had a wonderful meal. We particularly liked the fondue and our waffle for dessert! Would definitely recommend this dining option for hotel guests and visitors to the area.

We went during their Oktoberfest week when they had a special menu.
The Place: Very nice and cosy chalet.
The Food: was horrendous. I lived in Munich for 5 years and know what good German food tastes like. This was not it. Frankly, things tasted like they came out of jars and freezers. My red cabbage and knoedel were the worst I ever had. My husband had the Schweinshaxe and it was more fat than meat. The obatzda and brez'n where not authentic in the least.
The Service: We complained and the manager gave us one beer on the house. She otherwise told us that this was what the food was like. She wasn't very friendly or apologetic.
Bottom Line: We sought out the manager of food and beverage of the hotel to complain. It's possible that with their regular menu the food is better but at a hotel of this level, they should either get it right or not bother at all to have an Oktoberfest menu.

Very charming place and great fondue. Although we were a bit jet lagged, the waitperson was very helpful in helping us select our dinner. Turned out to be one of our best meals. I would eat here again without question!

If you take the fenicular up to Mont Pelerin, then you literally arrive on the terrace of the Au Chalet. No need to go searching for it. The view on the way up in the fenicular is brilliant but when you actually set foot and bum on the terrace of the Au Chalet, it is spectacular. Luckily, we went on a gloriously sunny and warm late September Saturday afternoon so we could still take full advantage of sitting on the terrace. The menu yes is primarily Swiss traditional fare such as fondu, rosti, veal sausage, etc. but there are options such as beef tartare, filet de perche, baked trout, etc. We all went for the rosti which was very good, tasty and substantial in portion size. The wine list is also quite good. While we did not eat inside, I did go and have a peep and it is indeed lovely - all wooden. We were not disappointed at all by our visit. The surroundings and service made it a really nice afternoon - we did not leave until well after 3.30pm. Outside of the main mealtimes of lunch (12-2pm) and dinner (7-10.30pm) you can still avail of the Au Chalet and have a coffee, glass of wine or something simple to eat from a limited choice e.g. a malakoff, board of cheese and cured meats, etc. (This limited choice is equally available during lunch and dinner). I am not sure it would be ideal to take small children there purely from the point of view that crying or noisy children would ruin the whole experience. It would ruin mine anyhow. Reasonably priced also considering the view and its one of the Kempinski restaurants. Looking forward to real winter to have a fondue there and admire the snowy peaks!
