Description: The Au Chalet - Swiss Restaurant is located in French-speaking Switzerland, between Lausanne and Montreux, above Vevey, on the Mont-Pelerin. Perched high above Lake Geneva in the heart of the Lavaux Terraced Vineyards, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, our magnificent traditional inn with a terrace features one of the most spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding mountains. In an authentic Swiss wood decor, the Au Chalet restaurant offers you one of the best cuisines featuring local products and dishes. Swiss specialities and traditional dishes, such as fondue, raclette, tomme vaudoise (local soft cheese), croute au fromage (cheese croute), rosti, beef from local farmers, a dried meat platter and Alpine farm cheeses will allow you to savour succulent regional dishes prepared in-house using only the best products from our small local producers.

The restaurant is right next to the funiculaire and they serve food non-stop, which is extremely convenient for hikers. (If you show up at 3pm, you can still order a hot dish!! Very unusual for Swiss restaurants.)

They serve traditional Swiss dishes. I love their rösti, and it's reasonably priced considering you have a 180 degree lake view. (23- 25 frs) Highly recommend it!!

Excellent service by motivated personnel, swiss food (croute au fromage is a must), beautiful settings and view. Prices are absolutely correct. Perfect for lunch or dinner after a nice hike.

Au Chalet is associated with the neighbouring La Mirador hotel. It serves up healthy portions of excellent traditional Swiss fare such as raclette, fondue and schnitzel, to name just a few. Also on the menu is a nice range of local wines. The interior atmosphere is "chalet style" and pleasant enough, but weather permitting you will definitely want to sit on the terrace for the stunning view.

We paid CHF 174 for a schnitzel (enormous!) and a rösti, plus desert and coffee, and that does include a splurge on a CHF 68 bottle of local Chardonne red wine (decent, but not nearly worth that price).

Au Chateau is right next to the top station of the Mont Pelérin - Vevey funicular, which means a meal there can also be a part of a very pleasurable excursion from Vevey centre. The bottom terminal of the funicular is a 10 minute walk, or very short bus ride, from Vevey station. Right across from the Nestlé headquarters.

I recommend this restaurant.

We were 3 for lunch. Had the Daily Menu. The Mushroom Soup and the half Roasted Chicken were really delicious (CHF 22). Something you can not say about many Daily Menus. But the fellow serving was alone (and seemed inexperienced) but friendly enough when you saw him. There was a young waitress appearing half way through our meal (we supposed she arrived late after a bad night, because she had a sour face all the time), which did not seem to help the service we were expecting from a side pocket of the Kampinski Mirador.
Certainly in terms of cost and atmosphere, with almost the same view, it beats the Patio at the hotel (see my review of the Patio).

Located right next to the cable car, near the top of a mount, it has fantastic views of the lake, and night lights.

New to Switzerland, we haven't yet managed to remember that most places don't do food between 2pm - 7pm. We arrived at 4 for fondue. Since we were too late for lunch and too early for dinner, we decided to stick around and have a few drinks. It got late enough that we decided to stick around until dinner but we were staving so we started with dessert.

Hubby had waffles and just about swooned from the goodness of the chocolate sauce, which came in a nice pouring jug so you could decide how much or how little you wanted. I had the tarte du jours which turned out to be a huge slice of lemon tart. We were both in our happy places.

It was my first fondue so I couldn't really say I was a fan. It wasn't quite what I expected, but the taste improved the more I ate it. I would still put it on a list of must do's at least once, though.

The service was very nice and friendly, just a little than I am used to but this just gives you more time to enjoy the ambience. If it wasn't for the steep walk from here to our place, we would be more regular customers.
