Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: For over 30 years already, the world's first-ever food-themed museum has been sharing a global and independent view of the many aspects of the human diet. Its multidisciplinary, cultural, historical, scientific and nutritional-focused approach and its bold and original programme of activities have established the Alimentarium as the world's leading food-themed attraction. As the centrepiece of the Museum, the new permanent exhibition "Food - The essence of life" invites children and adults alike to take a fresh look at an activity steeped in history and laden with emotional significance: eating. The unique new scenography, combining discovery, experimentation and learning, invites visitors on a fun-filled, interactive journey through three new sectors: Food, Society and The Body. Enlivened with projections, interactive terminals and video installations, this immersive experience will make visitors aware of the influence diet can have on the body and its environment.

Fun visit on the beautiful lake side in Vevey. If the weather does not entice you to stay outside and profit from the gorgeous waterfront you can drop by the museum, a nice and informative visit. The cooking classes are fun for kids but I think you have to sign up in advance.

“Terrific place to visit!”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

The exhibits were interactive, bright, and colorful. Very relevant. We enjoyed it from cultural, health, and artistic perspectives. They also have a cafeteria where you can lunch on food prepared on-site.

“Worth to visit”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

The view from the Lake is wonderful and information about food processing is something we need to refresh and see what we missed out. The food are in teh Cafeteria was amazing, the staff are so delicated to make the food with good value of money. You must try the healthy way for lunch there. We have free entry with Swiss Pass :)

“Museum of Food”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

So many fun things at this museum. I like to look at all the old cooking tools. They try to represent food from all around the world, and even have a New York hot dog cart. I was disappointed to see the American diet represented by fast food hamburger, fries and a coke.
