We did a 4-day hike in the mountains in very wet conditions. There was a lot of snow in the mountain passes, and babbling brooks were actually raging torrents! We arrived at the Vereina Berghaus to a very warm welcome from Marcel, despite the fact that we were all soaking wet, with very wet gear as well. Newspaper was provided to stuff our boots, and we could hang all equipment in the drying room - Marcel lit the fire for us specially. Hot showers were also very welcome. The interior of the whole Berghaus is quite charming, with lovely old pine panelling and delightful decorations. The view from the WC on the first floor is unique - right down the valley towards Klosters.
The evening meal was absolutely delicious and served by Marcel himself, who spent quite a lot of time talking to us about our trip - he was interested to know what problems we had encountered and how and where we had managed to cross the raging torrents.
Breakfast was also good, and we were offered food to take away with us for our lunch.
Marcel advised us where to cross the first rivers, as he was unsure about a bridge further up the valley.
We departed dry, replete and very happy. We'd recommend this place to all hikers and walkers in the area.More
