“a balcony on the highest mountains of Europe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

looking south, situated at 1700 m above the sea level, in a region with an averge dry climate, Crans Montana has the numbers to be a first class location for leisure. Roads to arrive there are perfectly clean all seasons, the environment is safe and beautiful, things are working like a Swiss watch. There are two sides, two villages in one. Crans, more chic and expensive, Montana, clean and less spoiled. Where the real people lives. What to do in Crans Montana? Many things. Skiing, is fabulous. Not at the extreme of Verbier, but easy or medium, good for less competing people, liking more to enjoy natire than to reach the limit. But there is a first class golf with first class tournements, and minigolf if you are less pretentious, bike and walking, climbing and tennis courts, 3 lakes, skating .....sorry, the list is long. Ifyou are rich and retired, you can live there. If you are young and looking for friends, this is a good place too. Basically quiet, decorous, confortable, rich.

“Convenient resort with some good skiing - very quiet for March !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

The resort is convenient for Geneva and can be reached by train and taxi without too much fuss. We arrived on a Wednesday and the slopes in Thursday were largely deserted. Whilst busier on Friday the resort was still very quiet.
According to our taxi driver many hotels had be converted to apartments and sold to wealthy folks from Geneva and Italy which probably explained the lack of people in the week. Whilst this meant that queuing was not required, the usual buzz that you find in ski resorts was missing here.
The pistes are well cared for and cafes and restaurants in good supply although you do wonder how sustainable this will be given the lack of visitors.
In conclusion a good place to get away to for a couple of days skiing but probably too quiet for a longer stay

“Emerging Winter Festival Hotspot in the Snow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Approximately 90 minutes (by train or car) from the much more populated Lausanne /Montreux area, Crans-Montana has long been known as a wonderful locale for skiing or world class golf. Now, through consistent marketing upgrades and creative musical productions, the towns' popularity as an event or shopping destination has been snowballing. The mid-march "Caprices" music festival at Crans-Montana, celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2013, has gained a strong reputation as one of the "must-see" events of the season.
