“Don't stay in the Alfa part”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

We should have checked our room before we stayed, but it was only for a night. The balcony was very small and was really on these decor the building. The part facIng the lake seemed like it was much nicer. The room was very small and had paper thin walls. The party next to our room kept me up till early morning hours. And you could hear everything....if you know what I mean! The town was absolutely awesome with great views and I would definitely recommend it. There are many restaurants and places to sit outside. In October it was not very crowded and nice to walk around. The staff at the hotel were very nice and it was a decent place, but try to stay in the Schmid part.

Stayed here for one night.
Good location just opposite the ferry and only ten minutes walk to the train station.
We had a room on the second floor with fantastic views of the lake and mountains. Unfortunately the floor was so squeaky due to a wooden floor. I am sure must drive the room below mad.
There was a fan which they considered to be the air conditioning.Could be a problem in very hot weather. Overall the room was clean and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was excellent. Good selection and help yourself to coffee.
Staff were attentive and helpful.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the top with a view and balcony.

There is mild deception here. Alfa is a separately maintained hotel sold as part of the property next door. A hotel is differentiated from a motel as most people know. Alfa is truly a sub par motel ala Motel 6. Alfa has '70's plastic furniture, locked doors, no staff and twenty stairs up from the street level - yes you lug your suitcase up 20 stairs just to get to the elevator "lobby" and better have your key ready since the so called "lobby" is always locked. The rooms look like they rent by the hour. I felt unclean staying here and would not do so again. The floors are linoleum. and the awnings are frayed. This place is no hotel and should not be designated as such.

Room Tip: All the room have excellent views - that is the only saving grace for this otherwise whoar house.

Just spent a week there, excellent staff, nice room with a lake view. Breakfast buffet was very good, with a choice of cereals, bread, jam and even fruit salad. Floor boards above and next door squeaked a lot, didn't help that the guest upstairs appeared to fancy a route march round the room every morning. Even though we had the room next to the lift, it didn't make much noise, certainly didn't wake me up.
As for the bed, first hotel I've stayed at that has memory foam mattresses, slept very well.

Room Tip: try the second floor, or 112 on the first. pay extra for the lake view, it is well worth it.

We spent 2 days at the Alfa. The hotel was clean and looks as though it may have just been updated. The room was somewhat small, although that may be because we spent so much time in it. It rained on and off both days we were there. The view from the balcony is spectacular! Surrounded by mountains, some with snow on them, and the lake. Its incredible! The breakfast buffet was good. No WIFI, which was a little frustrating. The highlight of our visit was on the second night a group of 5 Alp Horn players showed up and played for about an hour and a half across the street. Overall the hotel is a great value compared to the rest of Switzerland.

We booked the day before our arrival and asked for a room with a lake view. On arrival you can park at the front of the hotel whilst you check in and unload, you then park 2 minutes away.
The lady who checked us in was called Mina and was really welcoming and helpful.
The rooms are a little dated but with a balcony and the view of the Lake, you really don't notice. The view is wonderful and you can siit on the balcony with a glass of wine and just watch the Lake and the sunset.
Obviously you are on the lakefront so you do get some noise but if you want the view it is a small trade off.
Bathroom was modern with a good shower. Breakfast was good but no hot food just a cold buffet.
Just one moan - the waitress at their restaurant is not happy if you just want a drink and was outright rude. We ate elsewhere although our experiences of Swiss food was that it was all very expensive and very average.

We only had time on our tour for 1 night at this lovely hotel booked on the strength of other reviews. Glad we did as our stay was excellent. Nice room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Staff were friendly and helpful especially Michaela. The slight downside is the parking which is up the road at the Bellevue and the spaces are tight. Breakfast was lovely and you overlook the lake. This probably represents the best value hotel we had on our tour.
