My wife and I have been spending 9-10days wellness-holidays between Dec20-30th at this very nice hotel for the past 6years and we always enjoy this Christmas wellness-break very much - our regular room in the pavillions next to the wellness-area is very nice, spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet is very nice - plentifull and full of various fresh juices, bread and fruit and plenty of other delicious things to enjoy for breakfast - dinner is always very delicious - normally 3-4courses - adequate and very tasteful plates and if you want extras, you just ask the staff, serving you at the restaurant. The staff is extremely serviceminded and kind - most of the staff are the same people year after year - so it it always nice to come back - to meet people, who you know and who knows and recognizes you from the years before - it is like visiting friends. The wellness-area (the Finnish block-sauna, steambath, Jacuzzi and silent-room) is very nice - everything under the same "roof" and very good standard. We enjoy to spend several hours every day here and we normally book 2-3massages each every year - and the staff giviing massages are very professional and kind. We are definetely going back again in Dec2014 - we have just visited the nice hotel from Dec21st till Dec30th 2013 and as usual - it was an extremely pleasant stay. The staff at the reception is very professional and very helpfull and we can strongly recommend this hotel for wellness and relaxation.

excellent diner for good price and good service (and good mountain view)
walking-distance from:
excellent Tamina-Therme
Tamina "Schlucht" for small/big walk

good shopping: Sargans, Chur
good point starting small trips:

Walensee, St. Moritz, Davos, Mount Pizol & Flums

small point: breakfast (with very good coffee) could be better
with more varietys of german “Aufschnitt”, "steady-bread-flow"

A charming old castle building with several outlying buildings with newer rooms, including separate buildings with health club and restaurant with buffet breakfast. The hotel is also a next to a par 3 sized golf course and a casino. The hotel complex is well maintained and the main building's lobby has a large bar with outside patio, meeting rooms, and free wifi in lobby/bar. The health club has an onsite massage room, regular and Finnish (hotter) saunas, steam room, whirlpools, quiet room, but modest exercise equipment (elliptical trainer & stationary bike). The outside pool is covered with solarium and was a little cool but good after a steam/sauna. The breakfast is a pleasant and filling selection with orders from the kitchen as well. My room (14) was on the top floor of the castle and had all the basic amenities including bathrobes and slippers. The hotel is next to Chur for shopping, to local vineyards in the surrounding valley for wine samplings, to the Landquart chocolate factory, as well as other sights and activities, within an hour of Davos.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the castle versus the outlying buildings, and also with a view of the mountains, s...

We spent three nights (April 2011) at the Hotel Schloss Ragaz and had a nice relaxing time. There are two parts to the hotel: The new building and the castle or the old building.

When we booked, the reception recommended the new building to be closer to the pool and spa. The rooms in the new building were clean but very simple, very basic with no charm. We asked if we could move to the castle and they obliged. It was a real toss and a bit confusing. We finally chose the room in the castle and we had a lovely time.

Let me explain why we were confused. The rooms in the new buliding although very basic had newer or remodeled bathrooms. The rooms in the castle could use some upgrading (ok more than a little) but had quite a bit of charm and our room had a wonderful view.
Your choice would be old and charming or new and basic....Good luck

Breakfast was included in our rate and was quite nice, dinner as well. Wifi worked well in the room. We also used the spa and enjoyed it very much. The overall service was very good.

The hotel is located within reach of Lichtenstein and less than an hour from Davos

Room Tip: A room in the Castle

I spent four nights there at Easter. My room was in the old building (the castle itself): quite big, under the eaves, nice view.

The place itself is very quiet (it is a member of the Relais du Silence). And quite classy with that: lounge, free wifi, good breakfast, nice building.

In fact I don't know why it is only granted three stars.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building (castle). Much more charm, I'm sure.

The castle is only the reception: the actual hotel is in a way less charming building in a sad location with no sunlight. Only few rooms have direct access to the spa. Did I say spa? I mean one outdoor frozen pool not even fit for ice skating as the surface isn't flat and two empty indoor bath tubs where you are supposed to insert a coin (to fill them up?). Otherwise, the hotel (or should I say motel) was fairly clean, and we were allowed to check out 10 min after arrival without cancellation fees due.
