We spent a week at the Basecamp for spring skiing and were quite happy with our entire stay. The Basecamp is clean, comfortable, and fairly spacious. The views of the surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking. We had one of the "private" rooms, which afforded us a double bed, extra space in the room for our bags and gear, and, as luck would have it, direct access to a porch. The kitchen is big enough for all to cook in the evenings, though timing your meal either before or after dinner "rush" will help ease congestion around the stove or sink. Everything in the hostel is well maintained and quite clean. The common room is nice to hang out, share stories from the day, or just read a book. Be prepared for the hike up/down to the house - if you have heavy bags, follow Martin I's suggestion and catch the Dorfbus up to the ski slope and walk down...otherwise, it's a fairly long/steep climb up a snowy slope. This is a highly recommended (and affordable) option for single travelers or couples looking for a mountain getaway. We will certainly stay there again if our travels bring us through Andermatt.
