“Chic Cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

We stumbled upon Channa on our drive from Gampola to Negambo and were pleasantly surprised. What caught my attention was the exterior - very chic and quaint at the same time. Was happy to see a new concept and the feel of the place was very nice - the small retail area was filled with interesting goodies and the open area of the restaurant is a few steps below the road level, which gives it a 'garage' feel as well. We had a quick bite & some masala tea and the fish rolls were fresh & tasty....good value for money as well.

Would be happy to recommend this place - am definitely going to try the Sri Lankan curry plate next time....

“Unique experience indeed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

Stopped by "Channa" on my way back from Hambantota to Kandy. And was amazed. Congratulations, Channa (name of the owner), for being able to create an experience that is unique and not available at any of the numerous food establishments along the Colombo-Kandy main road. And I dont know of any other place that will serve up hot, just-fried, chinese rolls and patties (local snack items) at 930pm -- and pretty large portion items at very reasonable prices. I really was not in the mood for a full dinner - but next time will definitely want to try out the okonomiyaki (the japanese savoury pancake). Please keep up the good work. I know of other places that started with a bang but then gradually deteriorated over time. Your place is too unique to let that happen.
