“stop over Merzouga - Marrakech”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

We needed a place to stay to cut our journey between Merzouga and Marrakech and, after consulting this site, we decided to spend our night in Nkob. The Kasbah is beautiful, well equipped and oozing character. The town itself was quiet and no real sites to see or places to visit.

On our one night stay we were the only guests in the Kasbah but nonetheless we were served a lovely tagine dinner in the "living room". The pool area looked lovely and well kept. Breakfast is not included in the rate and no alcohol is available in the hotel and in all Nkob!

Rooms were nicely decorated and the bathroom was charming. For a one-night stop over, the Kasbah was just right! As a town however, we wouldn't recommend it for a stop over and would suggest driving a few more kilometres and reach Agdz.

I have stayed at Kasbah Baha Baha several times, always after completing several days of trekking across Jebel Sahro, when in most need of a beautiful place in which to rest. Although quite a simple hotel, I have nonetheless been delighted every time by its beauty - the hotel is genuinely a restored kasbah which has remained absolutely faithful to Berber architectural traditions. Situated on the edge of the town's palmery, it offers stunning views from its roof terrace in all directions. All this, and the unerring warm hospitality of its staff, too. I have always left with a sense of regret that I had not allowed longer for my stay.

Room Tip: Rooms above the ground floor, although without en suite facilities, offer lovely views over the town...

Rooms fitted to a very high standard and filled with plenty of local work. The hotel is a large walled complex that feels like an oasis in itself, with a beautiful swimming pool and lots of outdoor communal seating. We visited during winter and there were very few guests, which allowed dinner to be served in front of the open fire. Perfect location right next to the old mellah and the palmerai.

We only spent one afternoon and one night in this Kasbah, but we think it is a great retreat for anyone who wants to relax, paint or just escape from the touristy hotspots. Although the price was very affordable, you got nicely designed rooms, swimming pool, generous breakfast, polite staff and nice garden.

This placed was recommended by Lonely Planet and we expected it to be out of our budget. We called in on the off chance and were delighted to discover that it was affordable luxury. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms which had full on-suite facilities - the room was fantastic, one of the best we stayed in during our trip. Beautifully appointed and very atmospheric. The grounds of the Kasbah were lovely and the staff very attentive - it felt like a real privilege to stay here. For travellers on route from the Draa Valley to Erg Chebbi, this is the perfect place for a stop over and like us, you will probably want to stay longer than one night.

When the door to Baha Baha was opened for me I walked into an adventure.
The people working there – the house and the garden gave me all the best I could have to get prepared to be creative and relaxed in my work with the paintings.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny

We can’t praise this hotel enough – yes the walk to the showers/toilets is not great, but it is an ancient Kasbah and there is no water in the main building! Everything else more than made up for this – stunning place and gardens, very friendly and polite staff, excellent food and our room was absolutely amazing. Of all the places we have ever stayed this had the biggest wow factor and was extremely relaxing. I am not aware that any of our group of 16 had any complaints and the general feel was that we wished we could stay longer. It would not suit everyone due to the stairs etc – but well worth a visit to the Kasbah roof to see the view or look at the stars.
