A really wonderful boutique hotel on a quiet street in Lindau. Walking distance to everything. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Room was large and truly unique. Love that the architect saved portions of the ancient structure and highlighted these in the room. Great large bathroom with all amenities. Breakfast spread was impressive..and you could order more. Could have stayed in this place for longer than the two nights we were there! Beautiful little town.

Rooms were charming, roomy and clean, with comfortable beds, decent-sized upgraded bathroom. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was great, in the wonderful old-town of Lindau. Rooms weren't cheap at 225E, but well worth it. If I'm lucky I'll stay longer next time. Should have based ourselves here for a southern Germany exploration.

Hotel is on a pretty square with fountain and although located on the 'wrong' side of the island for the harbour and train station it is actually only a few minutes pleasant walk through quaint cobbled streets to reach harbour and station.

All the rooms are different. We were lucky to have room 4, partitioned into a lobby area, study and bedroom in a way which gave the impression of being a complete country cottage. Very cosy. No wonder the architects/ designers chose this room for their publicity shots. Light and airy with two very tiny balconies, too small to furnish and looking out onto uninteresting back alleys but nice to keep the doors open anyway. No a/c but an effective (slightly noisy) fan, especially with balcony doors open.

Although this was a stunning room it was slightly impractical in certain ways. The bed is fixed between two walls which might be a problem for tall people; we are both under 1.8m so no problem for us. But we were travelling with 2 weeks luggage and found there was less storage in the room than we are used to, so we could not unpack very much at all, although the lobby area was plenty big enough for storing our suitcases.

We stayed 4 nights and the toiletries were never replenished so once used up we needed to use our own. Also be aware your room will not be serviced unless you hang the service request tag on your door. We got caught out with that on our first day.

Buffet breakfast was very good indeed, including smoked salmon and fresh berry fruits. It is possible to have breakfast outside on the square.

Lindau is lovely and also a good centre for excursions using boats and/ or trains, for example to Bregenz (cable car, lovely lakeside walks) or to Friedrichshafen for the Zeppelin Museum. Our best excursion was a full day starting with early morning ferry across the lake to Rorschach, local trains along the Swiss shore to Stein am Rhein (change at Romanshorn), plenty of time in Stein am Rhein for lunch and sightseeing, mid-afternoon ferry back along the Rhine to Konstanz, a quick change onto the fast catamaran to Friedrichshafen then train to Lindau. Possibly only works when summer timetables in force.

Room Tip: Tell the hotel if you are tall because you might find bed in room 4 too cramped due to its location.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel quality is really high and the room (I was in junior suite) was wonderful. Great taste in furnishings. Hotel staff is very nice and helpful, they can all speak good English.
The hotel doesn't have parking (as most hotels in historical town center) and you need to find your place into one of the public parkings: 5-10 minutes walk, price included in the room.

The hotel has very nice cozy room but like most hotels in Lindau no ac while the temperature rises to 34 c mid day which keep the room very warm even at night time while all the window open so of your bedtime temperature is between 18-23this is not a good option in summer time
