Room: very clean, beautiful and well designed, good wifi, coffee and tea machine.
Location: very central, beautiful building, unfortunately no parking lot.
Price: best value for money. 108 euro double bedroom with balcony (not a good view though).
Don't miss the breakfast! Worth a stop for a relaxing weekend.

I had been to Lindau a few times during a five-week stay in Germany in 2002, and was overwhelmed by the construction projects on the island. It just did not look the same.

We parked next to the two churches and (after asking a couple of helpful tourists with a map for directions) rolled our luggage to the hotel. A peaceful ambience reigned supreme. As a florist in my previous life, I appreciated all the fresh flowers throughout the hotel, as well as the fall arrangements of pumpkins, gourds and live plants arranged in vignettes throughout the public spaces, even outside the doorway on the cobblestone street.

Our corner room was fabulous and after nearly a week away from home, the gigantic bathroom with a deep spa-like bathtub was a welcome sight. Fine-quality bedding and a room with three windows in the bedroom and two windows in the bathroom let in the lovely Fall light during the daytime. The room had a spa-like décor.

We had many fine breakfasts in Germany and in Strasbourg, France on this trip, but this hotel had the best of all. Besides every kind of breakfast food that one could want, one could order eggs to order. So we did that on our second morning: Scrambled eggs. They arrived interspersed with chives, just like I make at home. Thank you so much.

Lindau reclaimed my heart. My memories of this island and its charms were enhanced by our temporary home in Lindau: The Ratsstuben.

Room tip: If you are awake, the church bells can be distracting to your sleep. But how often can you hear church bells in the night? Enjoy the moment.

Our recent stay at the Hotel Ratsstuben was a pleasure. We were in the Junior Suite, which was a large set of rooms, a living area with 2 comfortable chairs, couch, desk and chair, 2 lamps, small table and a flat screen TV. A coffeemaker and mini fridge was also provided. Items in the mini bar were a bit expensive. A basket of fresh fruit and a free bottle of water were waiting for us.

The bedroom had a comfortable double bed, a wooden closet, two side tables and a small bench. A small JBL sound system was available for your iPod or Bluetooth device.

The bathroom was gigantic, with separate tub and shower. No lighting directly over the sink was a bit of a miss. Plentiful towels and toiletries.

The balcony/patio had a nice outdoor set, with a couch and two chairs and a sun umbrella. All the seating had cushions, and a few pillows were also added.

Everything worked well, and the room was very clean and tidy. WLAN was spotty the first day, but a reboot fixed that issue.

Breakfast was included, and was a good selection of fresh meats and cheeses, bread baked that day, assorted fruits, cereals and yogurts were also there. Eggs were available on request, and I enjoyed a delicious omelette made to order.

The location is great, just walk out the door and you're in the thick of it. The waterfront is 2 minutes by foot.

Management and personnel were very friendly and courteous. We would gladly stay here again, it's wonderful!

Room tip: Junior suite is fantastic.

The old/island part of Lindau is a stunning.
The hotel is in a good location for exploring by foot with the lake/port very close by.
Spotlessly clean, we had an attractive room, comfortable bed although the bathroom was on the small side.
Breakfast was excellent.
Only criticism (which would apply to many hotels without full restaurant facilities) is failure to provide a sheet of paper with details of nearby restaurants/phone nos/rating on Tripadvisor because arriving at a hotel mid at 8.00pm leaves little time to carry out a careful search on the web.

Room tip: I beleive all rooms do not have views
