The Feuerwache is something very special in the wine dominated town of Cochem at the river Moselle. Feuerwache also offers wine off course, but this restaurant focuses on its own range of beer, which is brewed on-site. When we visited in April 2013, they had a very tasteful mild Pils on tap, as well as a beautifully rounded wheat beer and a dark beer, similar to a light stout. You can also take tours of the microbrewery, there is one every two hours, means it is very hard to miss out on a free tour.
You can also select from a raft of other beer based products, for example beer liqueur.
The choice of food from the menu is mostly typical German and everything we tried tasted delicious. The salad dressing was induced with beer vinegar.
The ambiance was fantastic (there was a football game shown live on the big screen while we were there) and Feuerwache is large enough to host even very large groups of visitors to Cochem. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is such a lovely addition to the town/region, which is otherwise mostly known for their great wines. Don't miss it, easy to find.
