“Fitting end to our day out of Frankfurt”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

We undertook a day drive out of Frankfurt which included a scenic drive along the Mosel river between Bernkastel-Kues and Cochem. We had a late lunch in Cochem which I can only describe as a most beautiful town with a charm all of it's own and most certainly well worth the visit. Shopping is a breeze as the narrow passageways in the town bode well for the tourist who enjoy this pastime on foot. Parking areas are well signposted and surprisingly not too expensive.
As usual in these smaller towns in this part of Germany one must take care not to overindulge on the wonderful selection of foodstuff of all sorts, all made in-house from the local keepers. Wine is in plentiful supply and of course there is a huge selection to choose from.

I certainly will encourage anyone wanting to visit this part of Germany, to overnight here if they want to see all the sights and experience the summer evenings as the crowds do dissipate in the late afternoon and the town quietens down. Great place and well worth the trip out of Frankfurt.

“Well worth a visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

The castle is a very interesting place to look around, small but interesting none the less! The guide does the tour in German but she gives you a sheet in English, but you miss out on the in jokes though! There are some beautiful views to be seen from the castle windows & outside from the walls. There is a cafe with a stunning view & a shop selling a wide selection of souvenirs.

“Worth the stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

We stayed in Cochem so walked up first thing in the morning. We had the best tour guide of the trip, with good humour and 4 languages to help with the group! It is a walk up hill, but you are rewarded with gorgeous views of the Mosel and town. There is a shuttle bus available in town. You are able to go through many rooms as the castle has been well maintained.

“A worthwhile tour os castle”

This castle tour was enjoyed by myself and child. For 5 euro it was a worthwhile visit. Castle has a good restaurant/cafe too with an unbeatable view over Cochem.

“High Above the Moesel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

This restored castle sitting amid vineyards is worth the steep hike from town. The views of the river and town below are fantastic. The tour was in German, but we were given a printed English version so we could follow along.
