We undertook a day drive out of Frankfurt which included a scenic drive along the Mosel river between Bernkastel-Kues and Cochem. We had a late lunch in Cochem which I can only describe as a most beautiful town with a charm all of it's own and most certainly well worth the visit. Shopping is a breeze as the narrow passageways in the town bode well for the tourist who enjoy this pastime on foot. Parking areas are well signposted and surprisingly not too expensive.
As usual in these smaller towns in this part of Germany one must take care not to overindulge on the wonderful selection of foodstuff of all sorts, all made in-house from the local keepers. Wine is in plentiful supply and of course there is a huge selection to choose from.
I certainly will encourage anyone wanting to visit this part of Germany, to overnight here if they want to see all the sights and experience the summer evenings as the crowds do dissipate in the late afternoon and the town quietens down. Great place and well worth the trip out of Frankfurt.
