This is a lovely family owned and run hotel, based in an old mill building just outside the walls of the old town of Ahrweiler. The owners are friendly and helpful and Yvonne speaks very good English. We booked directly and got a very good rate that included a free bottle of local red wine (which turned out to be very good!). There is a small kitchen for guest use with free tea and coffeee available and soft drinks, beer and wine to buy on a honour system. Breakfast is plentiful and varied and includes eggs freshly cooked to your preference. My eldest son had ham and cheese omlette every day, plus lashings of meats cheeses and breads for the buffet. The fact that there were coco-pops also available put him in heaven!
Our en-suite room was in a newer wing and had a balcony. The mattress was very comfortable. The pillows were the typical German soft large flat ones --I tend to fold them to get the height I need! The hotel has plenty of free parking and a garden for guest use.
From the hotel we could easily walk into Ahrweiler and enjoy the sights, shops, cakes and bakeries. The hotel was so close to town that it was easy to pop back for forgotten items or to put shopping in our room.
We had a lovely relaxing week here and are already planning our return.More
