Stayed here for a night with a tour.Arrived 9pm and left at 7 next day.Hotel in middle of a refurbishment. No food available in the evening.Breakfast was good with an extensive hot and cold buffet.Room was basic with comfortable bed and open plan cupboards, light switches not easy to locate for table lights but bathroom was a let down.Dirty chipped sink and burn marks on sink surround-not at all pleasant. Some noise from main road nearby.

The hotel is in a quiet area at a walking distance from the cathedral and downtown.
The rooms have been recently refurnished with a modern and a bit unusual style. The parking is available at a convenient price. The reception is aside the internal bar where in the morning the breakfast is served. In the hall there is a PC station with internet connection. The staff is kind.

Room Tip: Sometimes there are groups of bus-travelers; if the case ask for a room in a different corridor

Accor advertises this hotel on their web site as a newly renovated "Ibis Styles" - all lies and deceit!

When you arrive, you find that what you have booked is a decrepit dump of an old InterCity hotel with some Ibis stickers attached in the lobby. The local team is nice enough, but that does not take away from the fact that you get a shabby room with baths so old and worn out that you normally only see them in "hotel horror story" shows on TV. The lady at the reception desk readily admitted to us that yes, everything on the web site was wrong, the renovation had not even started and they did not know when it would, if ever.
If people knew what they get ahead of time, nobody would book this place at even a fraction of the price.

So do yourself a favor, and do not make the same mistake that we made. Stay elsewhere!
Personally, I will avoid all Accor brands in the future since a hotel chain that apparently has a corporate policy of lying to and deceiving its customers does not deserve my money.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms - go to a different hotel!

Breakfast was really excellent. Let's hope that part stays when transitioning to Ibis Styles.

Friendly staff, but confusion around internet access. Ladies upon checkin (around 19 hours) did not give me free internet although reservation made via Accorhotels mentioned free Wi-Fi. The night shift idem. It was only in the morning that I got 5 hours of free Wi-Fi which my partner could use during the time I was away.

Rooms have no airconditioning, no refrigerator. Bed not good. Let's hope transition to Ibis Styles will all improve that significantly.

Parking is 4 Euro a day, also not mentioned on the website.

Accor site was saying hotel was open since May 2012 as Ibis Styles, but in July transition was far from completed.

We requested a non-smoking room with 2 beds, but were assigned a NS room with a double bed - way too small for our usual accommodations. They rooms also are relatively small and without much in the way of amenities. I agree with other comments regarding a need for renovation. But the staff was friendly and helpful and found a smoking room for us (#101 ground floor) with two beds with the comment that it was not used very much and so there should not be a smoke smell. That was true, the room did not smell of smoke. We left the next day and returned home only to find a lot of bite spots on our ankles and lower legs. Over the next few days more bite marks appeared on our arms, waist and backsides. Eventually we concluded these were flea bites, but we don't have any pets, dogs, cats or otherwise. Prior to this hotel we stayed 3 days at a 4 star hotel in Salo, Italy and had no such problems. Because staff at Speyer later said that they do allow dogs in the rooms, and because this room had not been used in a while, we are pretty certain that the flea problem originated with this hotel. Contact with the manager was amicable and he said he would look into our complaint. We found the breakfast at the hotel somewhat better than the average 3 star in Germany. The location was not a factor for us one way or the other, but overall (and regardless of the probable flea problem) we felt the room/hotel was expensive for what you got. There is no A/C in the rooms, only a small shower and there were extra charges for parking and for Internet use. Based upon our overall experience traveling in Germany, there must be better choices in the area.
