Been there many times - many different settings - family, family and friends, and also in a business environment. GREAT - Michael is a wonderful chef, Michaela is a gracious host - nice staff- the wine is outstanding. You got to love it.

“Cozy and friendly, local fare and an international touch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2010

After a long walk in an almost deserted -and frozen- BK on a Saturday morning we came across Graacher Tor which was almost full despite the late hour for lunch (14:00). The receptionist-head waitress warmly greeted our big party of 5 adults and 2 kids and didn't bulk at the crying baby which broke the almost church-like silence of a room-full of German diners. There was only one table left and it was a big one, perfect for us.

The waitress was very attentive, spoke English and French and gave us the right time to choose from a rather extensive menu. She also advised us on the wine choice from a menu with plentiful local examples of fine Riesling, of which we ended up having two bottles.

Food was great (I'm not going to go into the details only to say you have a wide selection of local dishes coupled with more international options, portions are decently sized). They were kind enough to prepare off-the-menu dishes for the kids which were promptly brought up first thing with starters. We had some room for dessert and despite it being almost 15:45hs -and the only ones left in the restaurant- they kindly took the order for sweets and coffees.

Overall one of the best examples of Germanic customer service I've ever came across. Food was great value for money and nicely presented.

We'll definitely go back in the summer.

ps. contrary to an earlier review posted here, they do carry menus in English and French.

“We can recommend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2009

This is one of the places you should go to when you visit Bernkastel-Kues. Menu is only in German but the staff helps you to choose food. You can eat local specialities there in very reasonable prices.

“Graacher Tor Restaurant a great Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2008

Had dinner at this beautiful restaurant in Berkastel-Kues. The meals prepared by Chef Michael Mast were outstanding. The selections included ginger soup, asparagus soup, and ox tail soup. The meals ranged from Argentine angus, to ostrish and fish. The restaurant also had a great selection of desserts and an oustanding wine list. The restaurant is a family affair and his wife provides oustanding service. The chef provided us with a
“surprise” appetizer both nights that were outstanding.

While at Berkastel Kues we visited this restaurant twice and were not dissapointed. We had a reservation for the 3rd night and unfortunately got lost in Cologne and could not make our reservation. We hope to visit Berkastel-Kues again an visit Graacher Tor Restaurant.

BTW they also accept credit cards which is nice for us Americans.
