Our room was in Apartments & Villas building, next to the Office. I already knew that there were no rooms in the castle itself, but this is the next best thing. You are right outside the walls, and at least one wall of the Office and Restaurants building is comprised of a remaining wall from the large castle complex that once spanned the mountain top. Our room had one double bed and a fold-out bed for our teenage daughter, as well as a nice bathroom, and a sitting suite area outside the bedroom. Everything was very tastefully decorated, including the lobby of the Villas building and a grounds with chairs, gazebo and a view of the Rhine. The dining area is beautiful, with wonderful indoor views next to the windows, but those tables were completely reserved for both days of ur stay. We instead dined outside on the veranda, and I am not so sure this was not actually the more pleasant option. We sat right next to the edge of the veranda, with an unobstructed view down at St. Goar, and the Rhine, and across at Burg Katz. The next morning we toured the ruins, early, with almost no one else at the ruins. We had a very nice stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Book very, very early! One year is not uncommon.

We stayed here on our way up the Rhine River. The view from the hotel is amazing. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing.
They have a shuttle service that runs every half hour but end by six.
The castle is right next to the hotel and worth the tour.

This is the best setting in St. Goar. Great breakfast. Great front office and breakfast servers. The views are unbelievable. We stayed in the Villas section. The A/C was excellent.

The only downside was two. The staff at the villas was unbelievably unfriendly. Not one hello in three days, not one smile, not even an acknowledgment when you walked by. I paid 500 a night for two rooms. I don't get a hello? And they spent most of their time smoking outside the back door to the patio of the hotel with the smoke coming thick and heavy into the foyer of the hotel because they could not be bothered to shut the door to the patio. It was disgusting.

More ridiculous than that was we were banned from the using the expresso machine. They turned it off, yes turned it off when a conference was not using a room. And she told me that. No machine for you hotel guests. Don't touch the machine! For 500 a night I don't get free cappuccinos? There is no coffee in the rooms. And they take the tray away so you cannot use the machine like you would do to children. "Oh no don't touch the machine, you lawyers (like me) and doctors and well off Americans when you only pay 250 a night for one room".

This place is pretty amazing. The views over the rhein were great. The wine in the restuarant is great. The breakfast great and the setting is unique. I would definately recommend this hotel. We took a cruise down the rhein and had a memorable time!

Room Tip: Disable access may be an issue....

No response to our question of a pick-up from the train station. We ended up carrying our luggage up the hill in 25 degrees heat. The reception staff were unfriendly at best, and some of them rather rude. We had to ask for everything, where is the spa, when is breakfast and where, etc...Our room turned out to be a comfortably large, the same for the bathroom which featured a great soaker bath tub. Unfortunately, due to the summer heat the windows needed to be open, but were facing the parking lot and entrance door of the building - noisy at all hours!! After unpacking we thought we deserved a nice kaffee und Kuchen on the hotel's terrace with view of the Rhein - but it had been reserved for a tour bus crowd! We were told to go upstairs and sit indoors - when we got there they said the coffee machine had died, there were only 2 cakes to choose from, no ice cream...not a good start. The lady who ran the spa was extremely helpful and made our visits to the pool and saunas very comfortable with fresh tea and fruits on offer. The location itself is really what draws the crowds, so it is always busy with conferences or weddings. The breakfast buffet was fine, but the room was very hot and people complained. Would we go back there? hmmm....
