“Fabulous new hotel in Deidesheim”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Our friend in Deidesheim reserved 3 nights in early June for our visit and we were excited to check out the newest addition to Deidesheim's hotel offerings. It did not disappoint! The hotel and rooms are beautiful and tranquil with a Zen feel and combined with excellent and friendly service, made for a very relaxing and lovely stay. Having visited several times over the last 3 years and stayed in other hotels and guesthouses, the Kaisergarten fills a much needed gap between 3 and 5 star lodging as well as adding uniquely stylish yet casual dining options to Deidesheim's already impressive list of culinary choices. We had a great dinner with friends at Hippo Ristorante - the setting is modern, airy and open, and the dishes we ordered were delicious and on par with the high standard of food we've become accustomed to in this town and area. And, as others have said, the brunch is amazing. It's not inexpensive but definitely good value for the array of food and beverage selections, sekt included, and the outdoor terrace setting overlooking the Zen pond and garden. There are some minor kinks to be worked out as with any newly-opened establishment and the spa/pool were not yet opened but nothing that diminished our enjoyment of the hotel and we're very much looking forward to our next stay there. Compliments to the management and staff for making this a special place to stay in Deidesheim!

Room Tip: Rooms on courtyard/terrace side might be more picturesque.

I took place on a Workshop in this hotel for 3 days and I found it just great. Near the city and the wine cellars and restaurants to hang out at night, very nice restaurant with garten/pond view with a lovely outside terrace. The spa is for free and both the swimming pool and all 3 sauna types were just brand new and awsome to use. THe hotel is entirelly friendly to use and to comute.
High speed wi-fi and very good shower are big plus!
To be done: put clock on the sauna and pool to facilitate orientation. The 'a la carte' menus tends to take a while, so if you are hungry, better choose the buffet.

We had lovely stay at Kaisergarten!! In this brand new hotel, everything is new, most of things are made of solid wood, and stuff is sooo friendly! Their SPA is tidy and efficient, three saunas, cozy indoor pool, and lovely terrace outside! Sunday breakfast was gorgeous, too! We had bunch with fresh berries, finest Sekt, and much more nice high-quality food - so this 19 Euro is very well paid!
The only wish from my romantic side is - maybe, it could have been more candles outside? Overall - great job, guys! Keep on!

This lovely new hotel is situated in the center of this picturesque town. The lobby is warm, though not necessarily the reception, the terrace is in a pretty garden with fountains, and makes for a peaceful breakfast area. The rooms are small but intelligently designed, with a myriad of beautiful materials; glass, various woods and stones, steel, and fabrics. The bathrooms have all the amenities. Ask for a room over the garden as traffic can be noisy at the front.

I stayed at Kaisergarten this week, as is sister hotel, the excellent Ketschauer Hof where I had stayed previously, was fully booked. As others noted, this is a brand-new hotel, and not everything is finished yet - but it seemed guest areas were ready, and the restaurant was open (just the spa, and some areas of the parking still saw construction work ongoing).

I entered the hotel through the garden, and from the restaurant terrace on a nice, warm day - a nice welcome, but that's about all I could find exciting about this hotel. I checked in at about 23:00, and the receptionist was completely disinterested, and rather rude. When I tried entering my card, it did not work - no big deal, but when I went down to get it checked not even one "I am sorry" (and this was not a language problem - I am native German...). Upon finally entering the room, I found a very small room (2nd floor) that was very hot, and - as I found out later - the aircon did not work. NOT all rooms here have balconies - be careful what you get.

Twin beds, pushed together - very soft, with way too warm duvets for the summer. Bathroom is OK, but all rather cramped (e.g., the shower). I slept badly, as I started realizing that the aircon did not work, and thus I had to sleep the window & curtain open to get some air into the room (small windows, as under the roof) and thus woke up on/off from abt 4:30 onwards. When I left the room the same receptionist that checked me in walk down the corridor, likely close to the end of her shift. When I pointed out the aircon problem she looked at the controls, mumbled something like "strange, seems broken" - again, no excuse, no sense of actually caring for the well-being of her guest.

Breakfast was OK, through at 7:15 the hot dishes were still not ready, instead a cook was walking around taking pictures with his phone of the breakfast buffet...

Check-out was painfully slow - it's something most hotels just don't seem to get right. There was NOTHING to fix, no wrong address, no items from minibar, ... nothing - and still it took more than 10 minutes. Might be fine for a senior traveller with lots of time, but travelling so much I have less and less understanding that hotels just seem to be unable to fix their processes, or train their staff.

Overall, I think the the whole hotel with its "en-voge" raw wood design, moos-covered walls, combined with some design furniture that seems out of place is a bit too stylish to pass the test of times - but that would be fine for now if just the service attitude would be better, and the basics such as door keys, aircon, wifi internet access (which also did not work in my room) etc would be fixed. I certainly won't be back - much better options in and around Deidesheim.

Room Tip: Do not have a room on 2nd floor without balcony, under roof...small and hot

Dear "gourmetflo"

Thank you for taking your time to share your experience on Tripadvisor.com.

All of your mentioned comments were already discussed with the responsible department to avoid those experiences in future. Please be sure that this is not our philosophy and the way of working is more efficent than you experienced.

Currently we are in the process to change blankets and to improve our aircondition.
I am absolutely sure these points will be fixed very soon.

It would be a pleasure if you will be back to the Kaisergarten Hotel & Spa at a later stage to see improvements in all areas.

With best regards

Disappointing experience
We had a very disappointing experience at this new hotel. We booked 4 double rooms before the hotel was open. We had been told by the reservation that the hotel is completely done – only the spa and the restaurant are not open yet. They also said that this is a sister hotel of the 5 star Deidesheimer Hof so we shouldn't get worry since they know how to treat gusts. We booked 4 double rooms.
BUT – it was absolutely not the truth!!! The hotel wasn't ready to host gusts. We encountered workers that worked not only on the spa but all over the hotel. There was a strange smell, and the lift didn't work. There was a feeling of being in the middle of something rather then a feeling of relaxation.
Above all - the attitude of the receptionists was strange. They were friendly until we pointed out those miscellanies. When we asked how come the breakfast is so expansive (19Euro a person) when we have to seat in a noisy and smelling (not good) dining room we got an answer that the hotel is done. Only when checking out the other receptionist admitted that we got just a little reduction of the room price (10%) since the management of the hotel didn't know that the works will not be finished until that time and this is the responsibility of the owner. He offered us a complimentary breakfast but it was already too late since at 11:00 o'clock we came from a breakfast in one of the restaurant in the neighborhood.
He insisted he can't give us a farther reduction and when we wanted to talk to the manager he told us to write to him...
While we were there other gusts came out with the same complaints and even asked to leave the hotel earlier. Our preliminary assumption was that since we were on a long trip, if we would like the hotel we would ask to stay more nights - Of course we left!!
On top of that, since the lift didn't work, on leaving the hotel we had (peoples 60 years old) to carry the suitcases by ourselves, without any help.
A big investment in the building would do much better with a little consideration and honesty!!

Please bare with us as operator in all points in regards of maintenance and constructions.
I would be very appreciated to great you at a later point back in Deidesheim.

I spent a weekend in May in Deidesheim and I absolutely loved it! It's such a pretty little village with so many fantastic restaurants and wineries... The rooms in the hotel are very nice and clean. Each room has a private balcony. I really love the design (very modern!). The staff was accommodating and helpful and arranged our stay perfectly. Breakfast was fantastic! They served a lot of local specialties like cold cuts, cheeses, different kinds of bread etc., but you could also eggs any style.
