“Beautiful, But Service Misses an Opportunity”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Atop the hill overlooking the Rhine River Valley, the location is stunning. It's a 20-euro cab ride into Boppard, so not ideal if you're doing a lot of back-and-forth travel. For a spa escape, the location would be great. The facilities are incredible.

Downside: We made a reservation for the on-site restaurant and it took us 30 minutes to even get a menu. The poor restaurant service continued throughout our meal, and when we complained all we were told was that they had an off-night. No apologies or ways of improving over the rest of our two-night stay.

The rooms lack air conditioning but are spacious, the spa is wonderful, but the people don't quite live up to the hotel itself.

We spent our anniversary weekend at the hotel and it was brilliant. The hotel is undergoing a phased refurbishment but doesn't effect the experience. The hotel has a facinating heritage of being a former monestry and the redevelopment has been done well. The half board package is great value and the cuisine is first class. The spa treatments are perfect with excellent leisure facilities the golf course is breathtakingly memorable with views of castles along with the river Rhein. The added bonus is the hotel's connection with Haribo which is evident with free bowls of Haribo all over the hotel :-) can't wait to book my next break!

Very nice Golfhotel in old Abbey, located on the Jacobsberg. From the Jacobsberg you can look down into the valley of the river rhine. Next to the hotel is a nice Golfcource. The hotel has a nice spa and a very good restaurant. The staff tries to fullfill all your wishes, evan if there are some special ones.

I can recommend this hotel!!!

Part of a romantic weekend for the celebration of the Valentine's day, we have stayed at the Jakobsberg Hotel for less than 24 hours, but it was a great pleasure for both of us. Arrived in the afternoon (Saturday) we have enjoyed a cheerful welcome and a few hours at the spa attached to the hotel. The diner on Saturday evening and the breakfast on SUnday morning have been delicious with a nice variety of food and a pleasant service! The view on the Rhine river must be definitely worse in spring-summer-autumn, but still really nice in winter. Only good remarks for this place!

Room Tip: Rooms on the East side of the hotel force you to take your coat to go to the restaurant (but only 20...

I visited this hotel with my parents, my mother is disabled so their room was in a block across the square from the main hotel. The hotel is approached via a very winding 6km road, on arrival it is very splendid, long drive and then the hotel resembles a large chateau type building based around a courtyard. The entrance and reception is very lavish and the staff were pleasant and couteous. My parents double room was spacious, light and qjite nice, my room however 216 in the main building was built in the eaves with 2 small windows, it was small, dsrk, depressing and shabby. The wardrobe and dressing table were painted obviously some years ago in a dark forest green and had lots of paint chipping off ... perhaps this is shabby chic? The lighting was inadequate and the room needed an update, a lot of money seems to have been invested in marketing with little boxes with shoe cleaning kit, another wigh shower cap etc. Body lotion, wine soap, coasters, laundry bag ... all wiith the company logo, it is a pity the same detail wasn't given to the bedroom. However saying that, it had a nice bathroom and the bed was comfy. This room is also very noisy, until the early hours of the morning it felt like i was a guedt at a party, you feel as if you are in the same room as the functions. Also thr room over looks the courtyard so if the window is open you are disterbed by the many smokers laughing and joking. I intended using the pool but was put off by their policy of you having to enter and exit wearing the provided bathrobe and slippers, i did not feel comfortabe walking through recepyion full of business men. We used the restaurant only on our first night. We were kept waiting for a long time from initially being greeted to being given menus, drinks, and then the food took an age. When it the menu choice was_ also extremely limited. When the food did dventually arrive, it was very nice but small portions and extremely overpriced.. the views from the restaurant are stunning, but all the stuffed dead animals was a bit off putting. Breakfsst is a buffet, and they will also cook you omlettes etc while you wait ...good choice and very nice. All in all this hotel has the potential to tic
k all the boxes but actually is a bit pretentious and doesnt concentrate on the important things.

The town of Boppard is not easily accessible and this may put some people off. However this is a fabulous hotel; stylish, comfortable and the staff are welcoming and efficient.

Spa facilities are very good and if you are into golf, which I am not, it must be paradise. The rooms are spacious and clean. The restaurant is very good and beautifully presented. There is a feeling of space throughout the hotel, with many peaceful areas in which to escape.

The hotel provides a selection of good value breaks.
