Hotel Hunsruecker Hof

The hotel is located in a very picturesque part of Boppard withing walking distance of the town centre. It was spacious and nicely presented. It had a 'family' feeling which made it ideal for my students. The owners were very helpful and accomodating especially in providing one of our students with crutches after she sustained an injury on one of the outings. They were also very understanding when dealing with children. The food was good, tasty and well presented - the only disappointment being that it tended to cater for 'English' tastes and I would have preferred to have more German dishes. I fully understand however that this might not be popular with the students themselves!!. The spacious dining room was available for the quiz evening we organised and although it was a late evening for the owners to set up for the morning, they were very accomodating.

I've just got back from staying at the Hunsruecker Hof for 3 nights with 43 students. After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a little trepidatious, however, I needn't have worried. The hotel was clean, the staff really friendly and welcoming and the food good. The rooms were of varying sizes, with very comfortable beds. There was plenty of hot water for showers. The staff could not have been nicer. They are clearly used to dealing with groups and had plenty of suggestions for things to do and see. The breakfast buffet was typically German, plentiful and delicious, and if you are on a school trip, it makes sense of all the things your teachers blather on about! The evening meals were great, although German food is saltier than we are used to in England. It was great to be able to use the dining room after dinner, too. I would definitely stay here again and would go with my own family.

All the way there, i was dreading going to Hunsrucker hof... seen as i'm used to going to 4star hotels, 2 stars seemed like hell!... But it was for a school trip so what else could i expect? All the reviews were bad 'mould in the bathroom', 'dirty', 'awful food' i really wasnt looking forward to it! When we arrived though it was alright... abit old fashioned, but i'm 14 so i would say that..... our room was nice and slept up to 3, but the 'double bed' could actually fit about 4 people in!! No need for the single! The sheets weren't changed for the 5 days we were there and there though and there was blood or something on it (it didnt come from us) but it wasnt like we slept much anyway! :L ..the food was ok, but some of it was a bit too salty for me.... and yes one night all our desert was was half a tinned peach!! A bit pathetic but oh well.... :L Personally i think boppard all together is more for the older generation as their isnt THAT much to do and so we had to travel to different cities quite alot, but their was 40 of us in total so we kept eachother entertained...All in all though, its pretty goood hotel and although i wouldnt go on a holiday there its good to go for a school trip :)

Well as soon as we got to the hotel me and my friend checked out our room it was on the top floor and we had to drag our luggage up 3 flights of stairs with no help. When we look around our room it was okay, lovely view quite clean until we looked in the bathroom, the was mould and thick matted hair all around the drain and the shower and the was no door at all. A couple of days later we came back to our room to see that there was blood all over the bed sheets and they never gave us a clean sheet. That night we saw that the window was broken and in the middle of the night when we were all sleeping one of the pictures fell off the wall onto my friends head!! :(

We found the overall cleanliness of this hotel extremely poor. There were hairs on the floor of the bathroom on the afternoon that we arrived so we are certain that they weren't ours!

The standard of food was disappointing and this meant that we were unable to eat some of the meals that were provided, forcing us to spend our money elsewhere. The food was also extremely salty and this made it difficult to eat.

Unfortunately our shower had no door, so it was rather awkward with us being two friends. It was inconvenient for one of us to have to look away every time someone wanted a shower.
We also ran out of toilet roll and despite our room being "cleaned", our supply was not replenished and we had to ask at reception which was embarrassing for both parties.

The overall holiday was amazing and gave us a good insight into Germany, however, the hotel really let us down.

I am only 14,so i'm used to roughing it a bit,but this hotel when I went with school on a trip was terrible. The location was pretty good right on the river, which looked quite nice at night. However my room was tiny and had a view of a ladder, the toilet was disgusting with mould on the seat,so much so we used our mates room, the shower had no door so you could easily be seen by a passer by naked, the shower even leaked withme and my freind calling it Blizzerd Beach(a waterpark in USA,DISNEY) and our television had the worst signal ever, basicly it did'nt work!
The food was shocking here was a menu for 1 of the 3 nights... (All Incluvsive apprantly)
Starter N/A
Main course 1 Burger in a cob.
Dessert Half of ONE tinned peach!!

That really summed it up half a tinned peach!! Please don't bother with this hotel unless your an idiot!!
