“Five star view in five star settings, however...”
Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

...that is where it ends! During a recent stay at the Seigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg, we found ourselves in stunning surroundings. The location is superb, weather was good and the hotel itself has a lot going for it, we had a lovely room with a view, no complains so far. However, it all has a tired feel to it, something which seems to have gotten to the staff as well. Slow and disinterested service in the restaurant and lack of attention to detail at the breakfast buffet with empty trays, lousy coffee and cold food as a result. Not 5 star level, I am afraid. I would happily give almost 5 stars for the setting and scenery but for the room 4 and service and staff only 3... Next time we come to Bonn, we will view Petersberg from the valley and stay closer to the centre.

Very nice hotel. Old elegance could use a little updating. Great view of the Rhine when you could see it. We had rain for two nights. We used the pool facilities they were nice. A little had to navigate around inside to find the the restaurant.

The Steigenberger Petersberg is an excellent choice for a long weekend or a great family meeting. The hotel itself is solid 4 star material, but the view and historical meaning easily adds another star. It's an elegant gathering of buildings, originally built by a 4711 eau de cologne baron over a 100 years ago. It commands a wonderful Rhine view from the terrace and rooms on the west side of the building. Check in was a breeze, and the standard double room was exactly that. Standard. Good beds, well appointed, clean bathroom, no bath however. The only thing we really missed was AC-bear in mind it was an extremely hot and humid weekend with temperatures around 31 C. Staff is very competent and correct. When I mentioned my friend was celebrating his birthday they came up with a wonderful strawberry cake at our breakfast gathering. As the hotel was quite full they had to upgrade two of group to a shared room- the presidential suite! All was done with style and grace, breakfast is pretty good (be prepared to walk quite a few stairs and distance!) and the staff at breakfast was warm and friendly. You need a car to get around, parking is 6 euros a day. Pity about the wifi, 9 euros a day, these days it should be free, however other hotels charge you as well for this. For dinner we went to nearby wine-houses like the Weinmuhle at Oberdollendorf. Wellness a small gym are fine. All in all a wonderful weekend, and we'll be back!

Hotel Petersburg offers great combination of panoramic views over the Rhine valley (we had really nice weather), first class hotel accomodation, good restaurant with panorama terrace, super breakfeast and good services. All together it provides value for money. It was interesting to learn that in the past world leaders have been staying in this hotel.

Room Tip: Riverside rooms offer great views.

Coming up the winding roads I didn't know what to expect but under poring rain and a very grey sky the hotel still looked beautiful and I'm sure the view would have been fantastic over Bonn in better weather conditions We only stayed a few hours for some lunch which was very nice(pricey)The staff was very busy so the service was a bit slow but it was all served with a smile. Very nice toilet's :)

Definitely no 5 star hotel any longer. If you like vintage it is ok, but for me it was too much vintage: small room with ugly mint green walls, small bed, old carpets, small bathroom (partly with green flaggings again). Also strange smell in the room...
The "spa" was also a kind of joke (pool was a better bath tub) and the size of the gym and its equipment you should better not mention.
Positive is the location up on the hill and the nice view over the whole valley and the Rhine river. Breakfast buffet and catering throughout the whole day was very good.

We stayed two nights with our dog.
It was beautiful view from every where from the hotel.
They provide the nice facilities like swimming pool and sauna.
We could walk and enjyoed the property well and TV is flat screen and the rooms provides very modern ways. The breakfast was pretty good.
