We have spent e week in the hotel and are generally satisfied. However there is still a lot, the hotel can improve.
First of all, NEVER come ocer weekend. Weekend in Upstalsboom is a disaster for both guests, and the staff. Since they have special low rates for weekends, the hotel is overfloated with the guests, so that you have to struggle through hundreeds of people during breakfast or in spa. There is no chance to get a massage or facial, since everything is booked out during weekend. The staff seems to be unable to cope with all the guests.
Quite different during the week, however. The spa is not so full, service during breakfast and on the bar is friendly. You get anything you want in a minute.
The rooms are really very good, almost 5-star standard. We liked the hotel in general, very clean and spacious. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh. We have tried also the both restaurants and were not very much excited, but Kuhlungsborn has enough choice.
In the whole, good hotel in excellent location.
