Having spent the night in a guest house at the foot of the water tower, we decided to have a look in the early morning. It is a wonderful tower which offers great vistas of Lüneburg and the Lüneburger Heide. The water tower is restored showing the technology that was used to purify and distribute the water to the town. There are four floors of interesting exhibitions - and a small wedding chapel for those who are thus inclined.

Lüneburg is a city with a beautiful architecture and many old buildings ...so if you want to have a panoramic view of this historic city this is the perfect place.

It is important to know that the Wasserturm has also a educative role. The visitors find out about the water storage in the past and also some information about water and water consumption nowadays. The institution could start organizing guided tours as the many information displayed everywhere on the walls of the building is not presented in a very attractive manner.

You can see whole view of the Lüneburg on top of this tower. Inside of the tower is also well maintained and preserved.

It was really beautiful from the top of the water tower, especially with the close view of St Johanni Church. We paid 3 euros each and took the elevator up to the top floor. And then a few more steps up to the most top which is outside. You can then walk the stairs down and see what they got on each floor. Nice to spend some time to learn about the water system how water scarce has affected some parts of the world.
