“Great informal pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2010

If one's tired with sitting up right in some of the fancier restaurant of Bad Soden, that's definitely an option worth trying out. Nice informal atmosphere, good for 1/1 chat, group's evening out and individuals wanting to catch up with work over a pint. Good selection of alcoholic drinks. Simple but tasty food (burgers highly reccommended!) in generous portion. Service is ok and very pleasant but on certain days you may wait longer than wished.

“Great place to grab a beer and a bite to eat.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2009

Bad Soden being the nice, but not-too-touristy town that it is, the Check Inn was a real find. My husband and I are both vegetarians, and though we resolved not to be too finicky in Germany, we had done a lot of pretending not to notice the beef stock base in the tomato soup, etc. The Check Inn has an extensive menu -- available in English -- with a mixture of traditional German and more cosmopolitan fare, and true vegetarian choices are available.

The night we went, we had a beer on draft, an apfelwein (try it at least once while you're in the area!) and we both ordered off the sandwich section of the menu. The portions were generous and the food was fresh and delicious. The server and the bartender both spoke English, which was a nice relief after several days of stammering through limited German.

It's only a few minutes' walk from the train station and several hotels, near the Alter Kurpark, just off of Koenigsteinstrasse.
