“Wonderful Hotel Becomes Even Better”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2012

An extensive remodeling project has resulted in the Hotel Ruebezahl becoming even better than before, with the addition of a cozy bar, a redesigned restaurant including more tables with a view of the castles nearby and a gorgeous indoor/outdoor pool and deck area. Extensive pampering can be enjoyed in the downstairs spa area. Especially wonderful are guest rooms with a sunporch for enjoyment of the vista no matter what the weather. If you haven't been to the Ruebezahl for a while, now is the time to go back and enjoy the Best, even Better!

Room Tip: Rooms 3, 4 and 5 have a wonderful sun porch. Best single rooms are in the Landhaus, which is very co...

Stayed for two nights. The room was fantastic; we had a view of both castles, which were lighted at night. We ate both nights at their restaurant; please make a reservation early so you can choose a table with view too. Food is good, and not pricy. Breakfast, unbelievable, even Champagne for free!!!!! Don’t leave the door to the balcony open, flies may come in your room. But you are right next to a farm, so no wonder. Also we like to visit the old town of Schwangau, nice pubs and “Kuchen”.

We stayed in the hotel for a week over the Christmas period. Our stay was all we imagined and more. We had excellent views of both castles from our spacious, spotless room. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent especially on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.There was even a visit from St Nicholas on Christmas Eve and a chocolate santa gift. If you wished you could have accompanied the family to the church in the evening. The hotel also arranged our trip to the castle for us which was cheaper than booking on the day and insured that you beat the queues as it gets very busy. They also arranged other activities, all included in the price, of a torchlight walk, horse and carriage ride and a walk with the hotel owner around the beautiful countryside.
The spa area and outside pool were fabulous. It was brilliant to swim with the snow falling and the stunning views of the castles and alps. The whole experience was very relaxing.
We would recommend the hotel and have done so to friends and family since our return. We would like to return in the summer as there are more walks to enjoy and lakes to swim in.

My wife and I have visited 45 countries on 6 continents and this was our favorite experience!
The hotel/ spa is all inclusive so you never really need to leave. The dining service was outstanding with views of both castles. We had the master suite. The attention to detail was superb. We ended up taking pictures of the phone, mirror, jacuzzi and other unique and eccentric decor. Our suite had castle views, a balcony, fireplace & flatscreen with internet acess. The front desk even gave us a brand new I-pad to use during our stay. We had the Prana Stone massage treatment- it was absolutely delightful. The spa are had a Roman bath and a pool with views of Nueschwanstein. The nearby village of Fussen is gorgeous. If were ever back on the Romantic Road, I guarantee we'll be back at the Ruebezahl!

Room Tip: The fireplace was a nice touch in the snowy winter- go for the suite!

We have been to Hotel Ruebezahl twice this year as the first trip was cut short by my partners motorcycle accident so we decided to try again in November as she is mending nicely and able to travel now. We had never been on holiday so late in the year and the hotel staff told us it was their slack time so everywhere was quiet which was lovely. The hotel was just fantastic as it always is and so relaxing it did us the world of good. I have seen this hotel grow quite considerably since my first visit in 2001 but it has lost none of the personal touch and the staff are just the best I have ever encountered. It is a lovely place to stay and I would not hesitate returning there any time of the year. One day we would like to spend Christmas there it would be magical.

We stayed two nights to be able to visit Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Hohen-Schwangau. We arrived in glorious sunshine and were given Room 13 which was not an unlucky allocation because the room was very tasteful and the view from the baclony wonderful. Of all the hotels we stayed in over our two week trip (and there were many) the bathroom was by far the best as the shower was multi-jet and spacious. The decor of the room was good - the only gripes were that the seating area did not afford a view of the tv and the bed was very firm indeed. We ate both nights in the restaurant - there was a good value four course buffet the first night for Euro 22.50) - which was popular and busy. The level of service within the hotel was generally very good although the bar was run by a bloke with a passion for Euro-pop which was loud and not really in keeping with the "style" or ambience of the hotel. Unlike so many hotels we stayed at there was no charge for parking. In short, this is a hotel we would strongly recommend to friends and family as we considered it to be good value in a great location.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Ruebezahl for 3 nights (half board) and found it to be a perfect spot for touring the area.

Our room was a double deluxe on the top floor with a view toward Fussen, overlooking the neighbour's barn. Very rustic, but no smells or issues at all. In fact we did keep the door open for air in the evening and it was completely fine.

The room was very comfortable with fluffy bedding, lots of storage space, a spotless washroom with a fantastic shower, and fragrant bath products. The room was kept to a very high standard by housekeeping.

The dining room was arranged to provide each room with their own table for their entire stay, according to your room rate. Those closest to the picture windows, and on the upper level were in the highest priced rooms. It does simplify where you will be seated--- without a race for the 'best seats in the house' every meal. I'm sure this is quite common in Germany, but it was the first time we had encountered this. Very efficient actually.

For our stay we experienced the Bavarian buffet, and the candlelight dinner with a regular night of dining in between. The first two were a definite success while the regular night was a bit lacklustre. Our service was fair to good, but we did have to ask for things periodically. The breakfast buffet offered a vast array of breads and pastries, cheeses, meats, cereals and fruits, but needed a bit more attention to clean glasses, filling platters of food, and with the custom egg station---which never seemed to be attended. One more person working in the morning would very likely remedy this situation when the hotel is fully booked. It was well laid out and everything did seem very fresh though. We were out most days, but did have "coffee and cake" one afternoon and that was well done too.

We used the spa area once for a sauna and loved the layout, and the facilities. Very relaxing and a nice addition to the hotel. The terrace and outdoor views are fabulous!

We had tremendous help with planning our day from the front reception staff who were always very friendly and welcoming. Don't hesitate to ask them "tourist" questions. From this location, we explored Fussen, the castles, Zugspitze (Austrian side), and Schoss Linderhof. All fantastic days of seeing sights with beautiful drives in the area.

It was a pleasure to stay here, and we'd definitely visit again and recommend it to friends!
