“Vayu Lingam (Air Linga) - Powerful Temple”

Sri Kalahasteeswara Swami Temple
Certificate of Excellence
Attraction details
Reviewed December 21, 2014

This temple is considered as one of the Element Vayu (Air) of the Pancha (five) bhoota's (elements). This temple is very famous and Powerful.

Greatness of this temple is that this temple is never been closed during eclipse times (grahan times) as most of the temples get close till the time of the grahan gets releases.

Many people flock here to perform Rahu Ketu pooja to get rid of Rahu and ketu dosham.

To reach this temple:

First reach Tirupathi from your place, and from Tirupathi Bus stand there are plenty of buses ply to this place every 5 minutes as this is 1 hour journey from Tirupathi.

Please note: if you perform Rahu Ketu pooja then you should not visit Vishnu Temple after performing the pooja (Tirumala balaji), but you should direct go to your home and not visit any other places/temples.

Tickets gets issued inside the temple and you should plan one evening before if you plan to perform the pooja next morning (so that you can enquire about the pooja in temple)

Other poojas performed are:

1. Milk Abhisheka @ 7 Am, 9 AM, 10.00 Am at Shiva & Paravathi amma temple.
2. Rudra abhisheka

Temple opens at 4.30 or 5 Am in the morning & gets closes by 8.30 PM in the evening. if you want smooth darshan do the darshan before 9 Am where the crowd would be less.

There are plenty of rooms and hotels available at the place. Best one I can suggest if you visiting with Family & kids is KPR residency which is just 50 to 100 mtrs from the main temple (walkable). if you visiting alone then you can take any budget hotels.

shiva represents WIND in this ancient temple. Chidambaram, Thiruvanna malai, Thiruvanai kaaval in Trichi and Kancheevaram are the other towns in Tamil nadu where Shiva represents SKY, FIRE, WATER and EARTH RESPECTIVELY. In Srikalahasti temple around the shiva lingam in the closed room of gharba graha ( innermost sanctum), there is constant wind!!. Since one can not see the wind, one can feel the wind's presence by the constantly oscillating dheebams around the swamy!!. The guides are suppose to tell the above details. I researched about the temple and saw the constant sway of dheepam in the oil lamps when i visited 2nd time.

We had a very bad experience in the temple by the local vendors, They are acting as a wellwisher and selling the things in the name of god which god even cannot accept the way they are doing business. we were cheated by 20 & 40 year old mens. One unnecessarly sold 2 set of things to us, and the other one asked us to pray with the things with the initial small temple and again sold the same things in addition with the Neidheppam. In addition with these they also asked for the guide charge which I cannot understand the reason till now. everything is like maya and just like that they will sell everything to us for almost 500 to 700 rupees. We are ready to offer god as per our capability, but why for these PHYSICALLY FIT BEGGERS. There should be some proper maintenance in the temple. Otherwise people from other state is worried to come back. There is no Police or temple authority in the entrance to stop these nonsense. Now I am thinking why the temple gopuram is demolished, even god is angry by doing business with his name. Definetly he will give it back to those who are cheating in the name of god.
