Would NEVER stay here! Outside balconies stained and cracking, poorly maintained. Rooms could look out at street or parking lot; pay a premium for lake view. Looked more like a 2 star hotel in the states than a 4 star. And they charge to parking--in their own lot! (Not like it's a town lot anyone can park in.) After this look and the reviews about the poor quality of the rooms, we were glad we changed our booking to another hotel in the town.

Yes, the hotel has seen its best days, but our room was clean, breakfast was nice and we liked the fact that the hotel was located little out from the tourist centrum (like 100 meters). We were lucky and got a room with a view and balcony to the lake, which made our stay nice. If you get a good price and nice room, we paid like 100 euros per night, we can recommend this hotel.
As a place titisee is holiday town for little older people, or at least there are not that many young. Beautiful place with nice surroundings.

We travelled through SchwartzWald with a group. The hotel is outdated and lacks certain amenities. No wifi and air conditioning. On our visit we were seated in the restaurant facing west, as the sun came down it became stiflingly hot in the restaurant because of the lack of air conditioning. Our group was treated as second class, which the hotel management pointed out to our tour guide, because we were getting discount rates. The service was poor and slow, no fault to our waitress, she was alone to serve 48 guests. The room was clean. The view was exceptional. Breakfast was good.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking the lake, they have balconies and exceptional views.

Could just feel the stress dissipating when I entered this hotel. Loved the warm quaint laid back atmosphere. While rooms were not spectacular there were many nooks and easy chairs just waiting for you to relax. Wish I could have spent more time here. Dining was also a pleasure...looking out over the lake.

We stayed there for a week as part of an organised tour in May 2013. We had advised the tour operator in advance that we didn't eat meat (but did eat fish) and that we would appreciate soya milk available for breakfast. The tour operator did their bit and checked that the hotel had received our requests. On arrival on a Sunday we were told that soya milk would not be available before Tuesday as the hotel had neglected to obtain it. At dinner that night, we had a very slow service and ordered the fish. It arrived with bacon on top of it. We explained that we did not eat meat so they tried us with dumplings (which we declined), followed by chicken, followed by another fish dish with bacon, followed finally by fish without bacon! Is it really so difficult?

The rooms are somewhat outdated - ancient television set for example and I really don't know how this hotel continues to sell itself as four star.

The best part was the excellent buffet breakfast. Even that failed one morning as two coachloads of visitors had filled the restaurant by 0730.

We stayed there while touring SchwartzWald with bikes.
The Hotel is outdated and lack renovations everywhere ( rooms, corridor, lift)
Our room was just ok except the acoustic (sound proofing) which was far from perfect.
The room of our friend had bad odors and the carpet did not inspire trust.
When we requested a new room for her, we had to wait for more than 30 minutes and insist twice to see someone from the direction although that the assistant manager came in the bar to have a glance while we were ''enjoying'' a free drink to make us waiting.
As for Mr Rosso the manager, we did not have the chance to meet him. It looks like he spend his time on the web replying to the comments of Tripadvisor

2 positive points
a bidet in the bathroom
the breakfast which is copious.

Having checked Trip Adviser before we left we were pleasantly surprised on arrival. The hotel is not the prettiest I have ever seen but was warm and comfortable. The lounge/bar overlook the lake and has an English lady playing piano.
Unlike other reviewers we did have a lake view. It certainly isn't modern but has reasonable facilities - including a little gym and pool. It seemed to be used by numerous touring companies as different nationalities on tours of Europe stopped over during our stay.
We did have a few issues over dinner but the breakfasts were very good - even running to "champagne" to make bucks fizz!
