“Guide with pizazz”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014

We were very fortunate to get a tour guide who spoke English, knew his stuff, and liked to bring his visitors closer to the habits of the previous castle inhabitants. He also drew connections between castle history and where his visitors were from. He was very amusing and informative too. Unfortunately I don't know his name.

“Wunderbarer Garten / Wonderful Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2014

We visited the Palace Garden on a Friday afternoon in March. The Cherry Blossom in the Japanese Garden was very beautiful - could not be much better in Japan. The gardens are extensive with different parts to it: Baroque Garden, Japanese Cherry Blossom Garden, English Landscape Garden, an Oriental Garden with a mosque. But best of all: the Cherry Blossom is amazing; People were having picnics under the trees, kids were having a wonderful time and photographers were busy catching the atmosphere.

“Tranquil visit on a winter day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

The gardens of this schloss are amazing and I can just imagine what they must look like in the summer. Yes, the statues were all covered and very little was in bloom. But the tranquility of taking a walk around the grounds with virtually no one else there on a sunny winter day made it worth the visit. Beautiful herons, ducks and other water fowl in the the many water features. The schloss was the summer residence for the Elector Carl Theodor so it's in more of a hunting lodge style than what one would consider a palace. Still, it's very impressive and the tour gives insight into court life in the 1700's.
