On long weekends the TouringCyclists often go hiking and the Harz region is one good option not too far away. Over many years the Gothisches Haus has been our favourite place to stay. Fantastic hotel at the market square, hidden behind historic facades. Excellent service and friendly staff who never minds a smile, extensive breakfast buffet and perfect dinners. Just the new halfboard option for 2016 is somewhat confusing, Basically it's a buffet option with the mains stripped out and made available again for a changing surcharge. We didn't really favour this too much, but th a la carte menu is just great as well.
The lovely bar around the open fireplace and the downstairs spa area just add up to all the good stuff.

Spent three nights- big, spotless room, fantastic and very varied breakfast (and yes, if you don't like the rather weak coffee on offer, you can even have a double espresso for breakfast from the kind, attentive staff!) and great spa after a day out. Definitely recommend!

Nice hotel, okay service, only remark would be the service when we ordered the "table in the kitchen" , the chef didn't know we vere coming and it was no good experience as expected due to no communication either from chef or service, just an to expensive dinner.
Nice wellnes.

Very nice place to visit. Old buildings on every corner. It still has a feel of the East Germany. Lots of places to eat or have a drink. The only down side to the place is the railway toilets, enter at you own peril.

Check in is at 3 pm...Really late!! No double beds just single ones joined..(We asked and There is no double bed in the whole hotel!!!) wellness area is nice. Breakfast was ok after waiting 20 min for a free table. Check out at 11 am was crowded all all the couples and familias leaving ...We wait for half an hour to make It! The service in general is poor needs more people for such a big hotel ... Too expensive for normal treatment. No recommend it
