“Parish church”

Heilig Kreuz Kirche
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Spacious parish church with double Tower. Built in 1937 (architect Heinrich Hauberrisser, Regensburg) during a period of difficult political circumstances: the NSDAP (Nazi party) wanted to prevent its construction with as a result that because of his resistance Pastor Andreas Ach was arrested and imprisoned, his successor Martin Meier was condemned to Dachau concentration camp. The spacious interior is pretty simple whilst the impressive vaulted wooden ceiling invites to pausing and reflection, artist Bornschlegel created: crucifix, Marian brother Konrad altar, Jesus Sacred Heart sculpture, st Joseph, St. Francis, St. Wendelin and the calvary. For the 50th anniversary of this parish church its altar and Tabernacle were removed and replaced, sculptor Hans Wurmer created the statement of faith of father Rudolf Florian: "at the foot of the cross is the source of life" with a vine in which the 7 sacraments are depicted
