“A very unusual chapel!”
Review of Erloserkapelle

Erloserkapelle
Reviewed November 24, 2011

Chapel of the "Redeemer" built (exterior as wel as interior) by Angerer der Ältere (Ludwig Valentin Angerer, German architect, painter, sculptor and author) with an artistic approach of the afterlife and the redemption. 1997-2000 Built on the grounds of a former fire station. The artist, representative of fantastic realism, has become famous by art for the movie "The neverending story II". Named Angerer der Ältere, in distinction with his younger brother who is also an artist in the same artistic area. The artist allowed himself with this Chapel to oppose the idea of spiritual cultural decay. He wrote: "I believe that, if churches do not state a new visible sign in a time of full resolution of all values and fashion elevated spot on the divine, it will increasingly lose influence on the intellectual background of everyday life." However, the Angerer Chapel is for Christians as well as non-believers equally interesting. Interior: leaded coloured Dome, sloping tunnel pipe with a group of salvation seekers who crawl from the dark towards the light and the cross. Among this group a turtle (symbol of long life) with the inscription in cross shape: "SEI OHNE ANGST" (be fearless).
