“Excellent Sunday Roast!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

This was my second visit for Sunday lunch and both times were very enjoyable. The ambiance is a bit cavernous with an echo but may be fine when more people are there on an evening for instance. The restaurant is clean with very friendly and helpful staff and the Sunday roast was extremely good value for money. There was a choice of Chicken, Beef or Pork with Yorkshire pudding and a large number of different vegetables - on both visits we had 6 or 7 different vegetables plus roast potatoes! Where else would you get that for £6.50 per head?

House wine by the glass was also good value and acceptable.
We will return. Ideal for families and retired folk and maybe youngsters on a budget. better value than many carveries.

“More Good than Bad”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

The service in Pizza Comordore was excellent. A good choice on the menu and the food is served hot. we enjoyed our meal here and it was good value. On the downside the interior was very basic and perhaps a change of layout may help certainly more round tables for larger parties are needed.

“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

We were visiting friends in the area at they took as to the Pizza Comodore (yes that is the correct spelling). From the outside it did not excite and once inside it looked slightly better but very ordinary. however the food was excellent. It was served pip[ing hot was very tasty and the portions were large. Even better it was a lot cheaper than expected. The staff were fantastic but it did lack much atmosphere. If we were in the area again we would not hestitate to eat here.

“OK until the desserts came”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

I went here in October 2012 with a group of friends from work and having read previous reviews I was not sure quite what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised and everything was OK until the desserts arrived.
The decor is unusual and it reminded several of us of a typical bar/cafe that you would find in France or Italy. Black and white tiles on the floors, red walls, and dark wood. Having said that it was clean and tidy, as were the toilets. There was another large group in on the same night, and it was very noisy with the hard floor and high ceiling making a real echo. Not the place for a quiet dinner for 2 if there are groups in.
There is one of the largest lists of starters I have ever seen, which sounds good, but does indicate perhaps that they cannot all be done freshly?

I had bruschette to start and a mushroom Pizza to follow, and they were fine, no complaints, plenty of mushrooms on the pizza if a bit on the small side for a main meal. Others has a variety of pasta dishes ( huge portions) and nobody had any complaints.

The dessert menu was disappointing and looked like a typical standard plastic sheet when Items are bought in. The only item to say "homemade" was cheesecake and so after asking the waiter what type ( lemon) 3 of us ordered it. Well before I could taste mine, one of the others said "dont eat that!" Looking at the cake, the topping looked like congealed double cream that had been standing around for ages - and it tasted just the same on sampling a tiny piece. We called the waiter and complained. He begrudgingly took them away, without apology, and then came back in a few minutes and said that they were all fine and that was how cheesecake was - oh no it isnt!

No apology or offer of a different dessert, and having already paid for our first 2 courses, we left without waiting to see if they billed us for the coffees and desserts.

Shame at the end as it was quite good value for a basic meal and the food was OK, if not exciting. Service had been OK, although our waiter did not know the dishes and any questions about them he had to go and ask in the kitchen. Good place for groups looking for a night out, but I would not return as a couple - also take care what you order.
