“Worst night sleep ever”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

I broke my first rule of business travel - never turn up to a hotel late at night!!

Arrived at the Munich hotel (miles out of Munich) the lobby smelt of stale cigarettes

Checked in and went to the room, room key didn work and had to go back down to get another key made

The room was pleasant but like a furnace within minutes I was pouring with sweat and the air conditioning was not working

All the hotel could say was open a window, it took an hour for the room to cool down.

Only two pillows that were just like air bags no support at all

During the night there's was constant noise if cars and people keeping me awake.

At most I got 2 hours sleep and now have a very stiff neck from the appalling pillows

Avoid this hotel

This is a big hotel with really big bedrooms... the biggest Ive seen in a while You get a bar/kitchenette, seating area, and seperate bathroom/bedroom. Rooms in good condition... apart from curtain was half hanging off. I didnt love being on the ground floor but it was fine in the end. Shower good quality and very powerful. Lovely staff and huge breakfast for the morning which was a bonus. Why did I have a single duvet though? Apparently it's very German to do that.
Great value for money and 5 minutes from our German office!

Before starting writing the review I must say that despite giving the hotel a 5 star rating, this is not completely true...Let's say that it is a 4 and 3/4 star review!
The hotel is in a great position, both if you're travelling via public transports or by car, since it is near the highway and just 200 metres from the subway/railway station.
The rooms are very spacious, there is a little kitchen and a boiler with a free selection of teas.
At the same time the hotel is very well equipped: sauna and fitness areas (free), free Wi-fi, free open parking (I don't know about the covered parking, but the town is small and quiet, so if there is no space available in the open one I suggest to look for a place nearby).
For people which do not want to go to restaurants for dinner, it is plenty of supermarkets nearby (I counted at least 3 in 500 metres), and you can use the microwave in your room.
The reception staff is very friendly and professional but...and this is why I don't consider the review as a full 5 star, the cleaning staff wasn't always.
In fact once they forgot to change the bed cover, once they left the dirty towels on the floor and they never gave us other small soap bottles (despite staying 5 days). I don't know if the latter is a company policy, however I didn't like it...A free bottle cost maybe 0,20 € cents to the hotel!!!
Maybe it was because we got a super last minute offer?
We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, for 17€ per person I usually have dinner...Better to go to the many nearby bakeries (backerei) and for 3 € you will have decent coffees and pastries, especially at the one at the station.

The suburb town of Unterhaching is very quiet, but at the same time very well provided with services (restaurants, public transports, supermarkets, pharmacies).

I would definitely stay again in this hotel.

I've stayed in this hotel during my trip to Munich and Salzburg and found it really good, pretty cheap and comfortable. Staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. All check-in formalities were also quick. My room very spacious (included a kitchen), clean and also had 2 TV's. Wi-fi wasn't probably the fastest in the world, but it was free. Unterhaching train station is about 5-7 minute walk from the hotel and getting to the Central Station or Marienplatz takes only 15 minutes or so...
The only minus was the breakfast price (17 euros), which I found a bit too high. But for the rest it was ok... I recommend this hotel to everyone!

Similar to other reviewers we found the NH Munchen to be an excellent place to base ourselves as we explored the Munich area. The Sbahn is a 5-10 min walk and the neighborhood is quiet. We decided to patronize the local bakeries each morning along with the grocery store for our breakfast. We also ate at a couple local restaurants for dinner. Earlier reviews provide detail descriptions of the rooms and ammenities and I would agree with all the comments. Parking is 7Euro a night and the garage is secured. There are some parking spaces in the front but only a handful.
I would stay here again and also consider other NH branded hotels for future travels.

We stayed in this hotel over Halloween for 1 week recently - We are a family of 4, 2 Adults & 2 teenage boys.
The room (or suite as it could be described) was divided into a kitchenette with breakfast bar beside a large sitting area and a very good quality sofa that changes into a comfortable double bed. There is a large desk and our room 303 on the 2nd floor had a large almost panoramic window view out onto the Unterhaching village.
The bedroom was accessed through sliding doors from the sitting area and then led also into a small dressing area and ensuite bathroom.

This accommodation more than met our needs for 7 nights. The hotel is very convenient to the
S-Bahn being only a few minutes walk from the front door of the hotel. The trains depart every 20 minutes and take approx. 15-20 mins to reach the city centre. A ticket called "Partner Ticket" for Gesamtnetz which means entire network can be purchased for 20euros which means upto 5 people in a family can travel anywhere within the city and outer areas for the whole day.

My only observations are that for a 4 star hotel they do not have a swimming pool which would have been useful to keep 2 teenagers amused - They do have a sauna and a very limited gym area. The cost of the breakfast was excessive at 17 euros per adult and 8.50 per child - This meant that if purchased breakfast would have cost us as a family 51 euros every morning which was more than the cost of the room per night. Lidl and Tengelman stores are nearby within a few minutes walk where we bought breakfast items etc for a fraction of the cost.

The hotel is quiet and we sat in the bar area one night however we were the only customers there. The hotel does have free unlimited wifi, a code must be collected from reception every 24 hrs but the wifi service, although adequate for some applications is not very reliable.

Reception Staff were friendly and cleaning staff were very good at their job (particularly in the rooms)

All in all we enjoyed our stay in this property and the beds were very comfortable.

Room Tip: Request a room on the 1st or second floor facing out from the front of the hotel.

I was there for one night on a business trip. This was a good and comfortable hotel with great room and well equipped as well. I do recommend this hotel for short trips but also for longer ones. The room I was in, 209 had a small living room, bed room and a real mini bar including a micro wave even. 2 TV's as well. See the pictures for more information and enjoy your stay at NH München Unterhaching.

Room Tip: Room 209 is a calm and big one to stay in
