“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

It was an interesting place to visit. The castle itself was nice and interesting. Walking around the castle requires usage of stairs since basement, three main floors and attic is open. The audio guide was well worth the €1 it cost to rent. Very nice castle which has been used for centuries. Parking lot was a bit small for a day in July, but a place was found. Small parking fee was required. Spent almost two hours there and the time flew fast. A small shop (which sells tickets for the castle, rents audio guides and sells souvenirs) and a cafe in the other buildings which is part of the complex. Well worth a visit!

“Great stop with the kids”
Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

The in costume greeters in the castle were a hit with the kids and were also very friendly. One of the ladies spoke beautiful English and took the time to educate us on the 425 year history of the castle and its occupants.

Room are beautifully appointed with in period furniture and decorations.

The surrounding waters make for a nice setting.

“Lovely place”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

The castle is really well presented, the English audio guide is very clear and informative. We spent an entire morning wandering around the castle, the displays are great, especially the dining room scene and the mannequins to show you how people lived in the era. We were lucky enough to see a family of swans on the lake which just added to the charm. One thing be prepared to leave your Drivers License or Passport with the shop as security for the audio guides, we had to return with them as we didn't carry them with us. Also make sure you chose enough time when paying for parking, time can get away from you a bit. The park adjacent to the castle is also lovely with nice quiet areas to sit and view the lake and enjoy the ducks. It would be a lovely place for a picnic.

“Nice small castle with lot to see”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Castle isn't very large one but there is plenty to see among the building itself: paintings, weapons, tableware, costumes, toys and a jail. Across the street was small hotel and its restaurant where we got excellent service in english and delicious fish plate.

“Beautiful - feel of history”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Beautiful, old place full of history - Nice restaurant and really something to see. Walk around it and take in the atmosphere - Think about all of the Royal people supressing the inhabitants of both germany and Denmark living in the castle not so many years ago...
