A couple of months ago we've discovered this nice little hotel in the Black Forest. We've had such a good time over there, so we decided to go back for a week during New Year 2013. Again, our stay at the hotel was fantastic! Alex and Thomas gave us the same room as before so it felt like "coming home" :)
The room and bathroom was very clean and with alot of space. The bathroom is fully equipped.
A delicious breakfast is served to start the day.
Alex gives you a Black Forest pass wich is awesome because you can do so many things for free. Beside that, the hotel is perfectly situated in the Black Forest. It's only a 10min drive to Titisee. Less than a 10min drive to the Feldberg peak. Perfect for skiing and the bus can pick you up right in front of the hotel. There are many good and spectacular hiking trails in the close area of the hotel.
After an amazing day outside, a very delicious diner awaits you. We were always looking forward to the dinner.
Can't wait to go back!

This past summer, I did a workaway program which gives travelers the opportunity to work in exchange for food and lodging. Luckily, I chose Landhotel Bierhaeusle. For the 3 weeks I was here, I enjoyed every second I spent with Thomas, Alex, their family and the friends I made there. I actually felt as if they were my family despite being across the world from my home. The experiences I had were truly memorable. I explored the Black Forest, drank authentic German beer with shepherds, mountain biked trails surrounded by nature, and swam in the lakes. Landhotel Bierhaeusle was the perfect place to end each day and start a new one. The rooms were cozy and there was always a cheerful atmosphere and great people.
A word I once learned, Gemütlichkeit, means "a situation that induces a cheerful mood, peace of mind, with connotation of belonging and social acceptance, coziness and unhurry" is the perfect word to describe my stay here. Even now, I still talk about the wonderful experiences I have had there and I know I will definitely return.

We were served by the owner who is a lovely woman who met our every need. Food was excellent (even if the decoration was a bit too busy, we all appreciated the attention to detail). Great food, lovely presentation, helpful suggestions on what a non-red meat-eating diner might enjoy. Rustic interior with lots of schnick-schack for the kids to enjoy (I Spy, a family favorite while waiting for the dinner to arrive). Warm.hearted atmosphere and the nicest/friendliest service we enjoyed while in the Schwarzwald for one week (we did not stay in this hotel and had one dinner). Definitely would go back to this establishment.

We stayed for 3 nights last year, & enjoyed it so much that we decided to go again this year & were not disappointed. We were again made so welcome that we felt we coming to visit old friends. In many years of travelling around Europe & further afield, we have never met such friendly hosts.

Our room had obviously been redecorated & refurbished, everything looking immaculate. Thomas's cooking was as good as ever, & the presentation was a work of art.

We certainly appreciated the Hochschwarzwald card, giving us free public transport & free access to other attractions, such as cruises round Titisee, & the cable car up the Feldberg. After a long drive from the UK, it was good to leave the car parked for a few days.

We read with amazement recent critical reports, for we cannot recognise those comments as referring to the same place. Alex & Thomas are running a family owned small country hotel, not a 5 star establishment. We stayed on a 3 day package, including 2 evening meals, & felt the value for money was amazing.

After reading the reviews here and in booking.com we had high expectations from the place. However, we were quite disappointed. We did not eat dinner at the hotel so I will comment on the accommodation and breakfast. The hotel is placed well close to Titisee and Feldberg .We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. The rooms were very basic. The furniture is very simple and not very comfortable and the mattress in one of the beds was made out of two mattresses connected together. In the bathroom there was only hand soap. TV in one of the rooms did not work for our entire stay. Breakfast was again rather simple and dull, not at all as we expected. Regarding our hosts; Thomas was hospitable but Alex was always in a harry to somewhere and gave us the filling that our requests were kind of a nuisance.

Hi Eitan,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our little place. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed. We do remember you and your family very well. We would like to exchange some views as follows.

Our Guesthouse/hotel is a business run by Thomas and Alex. The rooms are furnished the Black Forest style and have got all the conveniences a guest house can offer. Our web page and other photos indicate precisely what the rooms look like and if they do not match your taste buds perhaps you should have taken the time prior booking our place to view them online.

2 years ago another Israeli family complained about the size of the TV, we worked on it and have TV Flat-Screens now, however they are more difficult to use and if a wrong button is pressed the whole system needs to be reset. The TV in your kids room got reset daily during room service (as far as that was possible with all the clothes and suitcases lying around), however we did not make a fuss about it as we could feel you were tensed up and frustrated, we blamed the bad weather for it...

We also remember the situation very well when Alex was really in a hurry. You arrived for breakfast at 8.10am and everything was ready there for you. You had several questions and Alex told you that she just needs to take the kids to the school bus and will be there shortly after to answer them. We are very surprised to hear that you Eitan, as a mother of 3 children yourself, cannot comprehend to that. After the kids sat on the bus safely Alex went back to your table and answered all your questions. And whenever you had one more question we tried to give you directions and answers anytime anywhere.

We wish you all the best and remain kindly
The Ehret family

Just back from two beautiful days in the Black Forest. The Bierhäusle is a great place to discover this area. Amazing good food for a very good price ! And the breakfast is worth the trip as well. You can go to Freiburg by train, no hassle driving a car. All included with the "Schwarzwald" Card. One family running the whole place, well done !
