This hotel was a great find, considering we usually stay at the Movenpick Hotel the night before flying out of Munich; however, because of the Oktoberfest which was in progress at the tme, the rates we were quoted were skyhigh. That's when we looked around for something more reasonable but still fairly close to the airport..
The hotel is situated in the town of Erding which is the last stop for the UBahn from central Munich. The hotel appears to be only a few years old, is very modern in its decor and there is a convenient lift.
Our double room was small but that's typically European anyway. Bedding was lovely, there was a small sofa, chair and coffee table, and the room had a walk-out patio even though it was on the second floor. Extremely nice bathroom with a walk-in shower. The decor was contemporary and offered a flat screen TV.
We asked about dining/restaurants and were directed by the reception person to some places within walking distance. The town is charming and quite elegant and we dined at a place called Percy's upon the hotel's recommendation. The atmosphere and food were excellent.
The breakfast offered was the full European style as well as having soft boiled eggs, which we really enjoyed. The breakfast room is cheery, comfortable and faces a large open courtyard.
A bus to the airport is available and stops right near the hotel, but we took a taxi which the hotel management called for us the next morning. It was only about 10-15 minutes to drive there.
This is definitely a hotel we look forward to returning to on our next trip to Munich.
