Description: Welcome to the Toby Carvery Buckhurst Hill. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Buckhurst Hill’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.

The food is pretty good. Its about what you'd expect from a carvery. The only down side, was that although they advertised four meats, there were only three. They didn't bring any lamb out until we were about to leave.

I go to the Toby regularly. It used to be a pub with awful food, but since Toby took the place over it has been transformed into what could be described as an American diner. I have only ever eaten the roasts, which always include either Turkey, Gammon and Beef, and you help yourself to the veg. There is also an extra large plate which if you are health conscious you avoid like the plague! How people eat that much food is a mystery to me, but be aware that irrespective of the plate size you choose, they put a huge yorkshire pudding on your plate to reduce the amount of veggies you can add, and they only allow you to have a sausage if you order the supersized plate. I think that is so mean - sausages hardly cost the earth!

You cannot book a table, which is a nuisance when you go there with children, or with a group. I once waited over an hour for a table, but if there are only two of you, and if there is a bar table free you can pay at the bar and eat out there.

Lunchtime is always full, usually with older people enjoying a cheap meal out. Look out for the offers but to get them you need to register online and give your birthday - perhaps Toby can explain why this is essential? I put down the wrong date and if you care about your privacy, I suggest you do the same.

A few tips - go early, especially in the evening. Sunday lunch starts at 11am, which is the time you should go if you do not want to wait for a table. Leave it much later and you cannot get into the car park.

There are a lot of seats there, but never enough staff. The carvers are always friendly, which makes up for the long queues, and the food is great and you can choose whether to eat healthily, with turkey and vegetables or pig out by eating everything.

Having dined numerous times at this restaurant and many other Toby Carvery locations I am always pleased that the standard of food is always high and the staff pleasant, attentive and friendly. Plenty of seating and if there are any problems they are keen to rectify the situation.

I have visited this carvery many times as it is my local. The food is wholesome, fresh and filling but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

There is almost always a wait list of 15-20 mins to get a seat, even in the week when there seems to be tables free. Bit frustrating. Also the waitresses always seem stretched when you try and get their attention. I think that they are understaffed.

Overall though, good for a quick fresh hot meal at reasonable prices.
