Easy to park and check in. The man in reception spoke good English. The hotel layout was a bit peculiar, but we found our way to the third floor okay. Standard sort of hotel room.

We went to have make use of the pool and sauna facilities in the evening. The changing rooms were small and not very hidden from view, only separated from the walkway to the pool by a small curtain. The six-ish lockers in each changing room (one for men, one for women) didn't necessarily work, plus the key was very hard to get leverage when turning because of its shape. There was no identifier on the key to say which locker it belonged to and you couldn't fasten it to your clothes or wrist or anything either. In the mens room, only one locker actually had a lock!

The pool was small and the water was advertised as being 28°C, which, when trying to descend into it, translated as "this is REALLY COLD" (not sure 28 was accurate, to be honest), so I only got further than my knees before we both decided against a swim.

The sauna was off and it only gets switched on by request, and then it stays on for a couple of hours. We couldn't be bothered. The jacuzzi was out of order and the gym consisted of two machines. Perfectly understandable why we were the only people there. The showers would only stay on for about ten seconds before you needed to push the button again, so we went back to the room and had showers there.

On the PLUS side, though, it's within easy walkable distance to the Old Town.

..a bit under the standard of mercure hotels mainly bec it needs to be renovated especially the bathroom. Good breakfast, free small parking lot underground, close to the town center. Anyway fairly priced, I'd choose it in case of being in wetzlar again

There was no air conditioning despite the mercure website claiming "all rooms are air conditionned". Last night my air conditionning was my open window.... Also not enough car park for such a hotel. Friendly staff at the reception but for business not recommended.

Some positive points - spacious, clean room, comfy bed, bathrobes provided, nice bar - but overall feels like a has-been hotel. Not up to standards one would expect at a mercury hotel.

Expensive b-fast buffet not included in room price. Wifi not included (at a "Kongress" hotel?!? come on...).

Staff give next to no info about available services like the pool, sauna, bar & opening hours, mini bar replacement (no drinks, etc in room). No info in the room either, nor tourist info about Wetzlar. No brochures available at reception.

Lumpy pillows, broken mini-bar frig, zero insulation. The place has a run-down, almost East bloc feel to it. Definitely not value for money; look for other options in Wetzlar, particularly if you're not traveling on business.
