I had been sitting at the Butterhanne terrace due summer and spring time. Summertime when lot of turist are visiting at Goslar, I've to say that to get something to drink at terrace need a lot of time and nerves. Too many tables and too less waiter/waitress (even look that everybody are running all the time). I had also ate dinner inside and have to say that interior is little bid odd.
But at the terrace you can taste local "very big" choux puffs... once in a lifetime. Atmosphere is very nice, just front of old church. Place is also very good if you want to look people running around old town to Markt square.

We both had full dinners 1 sauerbraten, 1 weinersnitzel, each with red cabbage, and another side. Also 3 glasses of wine between us. Bill which included service and tax was just about $30 US. Menu is extensive. Substitutions were accepted for side dishes.

We loved it! It said menu was available in 5 languages but they only had the German one. They said a new menu just came out and they didn't have the translations yet.

We ate inside on a rainy day and loved the ambience

We hope to go back before we leave Goslar.

On a deary day in Goslar we stopped at the sidewalk cafe of this restaurant. We had drinks and dessert in the middle of the afternoon. When the rain began we went inside and stayed there talking with friends until supper time. We then ate supper there and spent a total of about five hours on there premises. The wait staff was very amenable and we were never pressured to order or leave. The food and drink is fine and we recommend this restaurant highly.

They really have great food for a good price. Be sure to try their home-made cakes or their home-brewed beer.

large outdoor seating with blankets if the temps change, also very typical decor inside should you choose to dine in. just up 100 feet from Rathaus museum and main square. For lunch the prices were very reasonable almost cheap but comparison with good sized portions, I have the bratwurst with sauerkraut and potatoes, all very good and the germans I was with thought so too, and they are not easy to please. the price 6.50 euros for a plateful. the service was slow in the ordering, getting the check, but once ordered food was quick to arrive hot and steaming. we went back later for coffee and cakes also very good and good sized portions. Goslar is not a typical american tourist stop in the Harz mountains but should be with its well preserved tudor housing and castle this once walled city has plenty to see. and Tis restaurant is a good place to eat.
