“Interior Temporarily Closed - No Date for Re-Opening”

Walked up to the church - the climb is not too steep and the views from the top overlooking Bamberg are stunning.

I went up on the 19th March - unfortunately the interior has been closed to visitors owing to safety as there are issues with the roof. There does not seem to be a firm date yet as to when it will re-open.

It's a big shame - but still worth walking to for the views alone. There is a restaurant / cafe but they were closed as it was off-season (alternatives nearby).

Ah well - an excuse to come back!

This church lies a bit far from the Altstadt, up a hill (but it's not hard to walk up there) and it's totally worth the visit! You can enjoy a beautiful view of the city also.

Captivating--from the herbal painted ceilings to the beautiful ornate pulpit, and the tomb of the Bishop of Bamberg.

We started our tour of Bamberg by getting a cab to drive us to St. Michael's church and the monastery and then walk our way down to the Rathaus .
The Church is a must to see in Bamberg . The interior is really nice especially the ceiling painted with plants - this is unique ! Then after admiring the interior , the next step is to go outside and have a good look at the City of Bamberg from this view point . If you have some time ,go to the small museum in the monastery !

This church is a bit of a walk from the center of town up a steep hill, but it is worth the effort.

The entire ceiling of the church - and it is large - is painted with individual plants - hundreds of them.

There's also a great view of Bamberg from the area behind the church.

Entrance to the church is free and photography/videography is permitted.
