“Awesome”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

I wish I had read reviews before we went. I would have looked harder. You can't possibly miss sculptures, paintings and antiques. There were tons to see. I just wish I had realized it was the only papal burial site outside of Italy or France. I would have liked to have seen that. There were brochures available for 1Euro purchase (use coins, it's on the honor system) in several different languages. The paintings on the wall around the entire thing are the stations of the cross. Each station had 3 to 4 separate paintings. Fortunately we're in the area for a couple of years and I'll have an opportunity to go back. If this had been a one time only thing I would only regret having not spent more time getting pictures of every single thing.

“Worth the walk”
Reviewed April 16, 2013 via mobile

A lot to see there, you can buy a pamphlet about the things in the church for a euro. I felt like it was worth it because of all the background information in it.

“The Dom or (Kaiserdom)”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Definitely a must see when you go to Bamberg. There are many churches throughout town and the Dom is one of the best to see. One of my favorite things inside is on the wall to the right of the alter once you come in the main entrance door is the photos hanging on the wall that show the crucifixion of Jesus. Another must see inside is going down the stairs to the right of the alter and seeing the tombs and burial site underneath.

“Stunning!”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

This amazing cathedral dominates Bambegr's skyline.
It dates back to the 13th century and beautifully combines the Romanesque and Gothic styles.
The cathedral features three naves and the height of the ceiling is absolutely stunning.
Make sure to walk around the cathedral and don't miss the Marian altar, which is beautiful.
Notice that the cathedral also has two choirs – St. George's (closer to the entrance) and St. Peter's.
You can easily spend an hour admiring this beautiful cathedral and its numerous statues and other artifacts.
Highly recommended.
